Federico de Majo

The story of Federico de Majo has its beginnings in the family business on the island of Murano. It was here, in the mid-1970s, that he began, as did artistic glass in general.

...yet this job is hardship, sweat and tension. You can never get away, far from it; the group requires the everybody’s continuous attention. But it is pure joy to be in furnace at dawn, to see the dance begin to the warm music of the glass pot, to be next to these jugglers, to share the desire to realize our thoughts. Thank you unknown artists, your glass is our happiness. -Federico de Majo.

As shown in photo and a lovely, solid piece

This is a modern lamp which creates a strong effect in its simplicity. I would recommend it highly.

beautiful but expensive

beautiful but expensive: this was ordered to accompany another globe light my folks got for 30 dollars in the 70's. Are we saying 30 dollars in the 70's is the same as 279 dollars now? Hard to believe. It is nice but the base is this cruddy metal ring that needs go be hidden unlike my 30 dollar one that actually has a nice wooden base and a tension rod that fits into the globe to keep it attached and upright--this has no such thing. It looks nice high on a shelf where i have and has a lovely warm glow.
