Design by Sofie Refer, Jakob Staer and Jesper Kongshaug, 2011.By &Tradition.
The Array Chandelier is the result of a collaboration between two product designers, Sofie Refer and Jakob Staer, and lighting designer Jesper Kongshaug. It has an angled base plate from which eight elongated pendants are suspended at varying heights. Each pendant has a silicone cable and a slim, acrylic tube ending in an LED light source. The piece as a whole casts a gentle diffused glow around the surrounding space, while the down light produces a precise and concentrated beam.
The Array Chandelier is like a curtain of falling rain, as it pulls the eye vertically towards its pinpoint source of light. Easy to use in groups, Array has the potential to visually divide a space, having the dual role of lighting an interior and architecturally changing the spatial experience.
