I was looking for a reasonably-priced, modern, attractive task desk lamp that we could use a CFL bulb with. The CFL is important to us for the incredible energy-efficiency compared to halogen or other incandescent-type bulbs. There was no compromising at all with this beautiful and very well-designed lamp.

I was given an Anglepoise Model 75 (similar design to the current Type 75 but with a slimmer shade) in the UK in the early 1980s. Both the original and the current model are simply great designs, although I do slightly prefer the weight, feel, and look of the new aluminium (I got the silver brushed Aluminium version) over the old enamelled steel. This lamp stays in exactly the position that you want it with a minimum of fuss and clutter, no other design has managed to completely emulate those three simple springs and the single elegant upper arm. Very happy with my new lamp!

The Anglepoise 75 has a graceful silhouette that fits into a variety of interior styles. So many "modern" lamps on the market are over designed. The Anglepoise has just enough visual detail, and sits quietly but elegantly on your desk or bedside table. Its only drawback is that it does not offer multiple lighting intensities or a dimmer switch. If it did, it might be the perfect lamp.

I was secretly lusting after the Anglepoise Original 1227, with it's heavy rectangular base and glossy color, but this task lamp is a good, more affordable substitute.

I searched the internet for an American source of Anglepoise lamps and was delighted to find YLighting. I have known about these lamps for many years and they are the most easily adjustable, functionally flexible known. You get light exactly where you want it with an Anglepoise lamp, with just the right intensity, and they are, furthermore, beautiful to behold.

Works as it should - It puts light where I want it when I want it. A longer cord would be nice. Probably should be priced 20-30% less as it is made in China.
