Lighting designs by Ango are a kind of allegory about how we can live alongside nature in a technological world - each piece is squaring the circle in a way by proposing an organic form that is usually composed of natural / composite materials to create a light diffuser element, and this is then formed into an architectonic whole, suggesting a new sensibility where raw natural materials and innovative design join together. It all suggests a return to Arcadia...but an electric Arcadia. All of their collections are designed by their in-house team, which is headed by Angus Hutcheson, who graduated with Honors from the Architectural Association in London, and since 2002 is based in Thailand. The other key members of the team are Aon Benjamapa and Pui Chutitanawong.

Absolutely inherent with Ango designs is a strong sense of bio responsibility, with the diffusers fabricated by hand using natural, highly renewable materials including rattan, Mulberry tree bark, unprocessed silk cocoons, raw silk and hand cast polymer, that require minimal energy to process, while the other parts of the light comprising the base and electrical components are easily reused or recycled. The lighting bases are also designed so that when the electrical components reach their end of life, they can be easily retro-fitted. As well as design, design development, and materials development, Ango also carries out the manufacturing of its products using the unobtrusive, low energy fabrication techniques that they have developed themselves, while production, fitting, packing and dispatch all take place with a good environment within their own workshops.
