I'm an architect and not easily impressed. I've used WAC lighting for years and recently purchaced this for a dining room. It beautiful and beter in the flesh than I imagined. I've paid many times more for european fixtures that weren't as good. The 20W xenon frosted bulbs give a soft light that is slightly warmer than halogen. The two layer glass (white inner layer fused to frosted outer layer) diffuses the light perfectly. Even from below the bulbs are not harsh and blinding, a common problem with down-facing lamps yet the fixture gives off adequate light. The whole fixture can be moved up and down. The power comes directly through the wires that suspend the fixture (don't worry it's only 12V). I was hesitant about this layout but it looks durable. The install was a bit more involved than most but the directions were clear enough. The wires are field cuttable just be sure to measure carefully since the directions say thay aren't replacable if you make a mistake. The up and down movement is 1/2 that of the distance between the two linear pieces due to the 'pully effect' (remember simple machines from grade school?). Can't recommend it enough!
