The Ariette Wall/Ceiling luminaire is a design classic that I was first introduced to when an exchange student in Germany; I fell in love with the even and warm light it emitted back then, and was prompted to purchase it as a result. It is an aesthetically strong addition to a room, embodying an understated sculptural elegance. I like it best on the ceiling. I recommend an alternate packing scheme be used by the manufacture, as some of the parts arrived loose in the box (but stout plastic pieces are quite robust). Assembly is pretty fast, but you should have several people on hand to stabilize the system as you bend the rods in place.

The fixture is fun and unique. The support rods are bright red and the shade, when light is off, is very white giving it a more contemporary feel. I thought it would have more of a subtle, Noguchi Paper lamp, feel to it. I would recommend that it be mounted to a high ceiling (9+ feet) or on a wall because of it's geometry.

I have purchased Ariette 2 (39" square) and installed it as a ceiling light. It looks very beautiful when lit as it has a very even and warm glow. When it is not lit, it might not appeal to everyone as it has somewhat "improvised" feel to it, but that may be more pronounced so when it is installed as a ceiling fixture as opposed to being a wall mount. I personally like it for its kite-like feeling!!!
It is very big and will surely make a presence in any room.

I have installed this wall piece onto the ceiling which I already did in my abroad home. Never got disappointed with the simplicity of this design. Good for low ceilings. Gives bright light.

I have purchased many Flos products before, notably the Archimoon soft table lamps. So I felt confident that I was purchasing a quality product for my client without seeing it in person. I ordered it directly from the YLighting website so I only saw photos - very misleading ones.
The product arrived and I showed it to my client who hated it and, I had to admit, so did I. I was embarrassed to say that I had not seen it and did not know it looked so cheap. So I returned it.
