Matali Crasset

Matali Crasset is a French industrial designer. In the 1990's, she worked as an apprentice for two outstanding masters of design: Philippe Starck in France and Denis Santachiara in Italy. In 1998, in the Paris quarter of Belleville, she set up her company: Matali Crasset Productions. Her designs are created by observing the world with constantly new eyes, calling into question pre-established codes in order to surpass them. Her continuing research prompts her to cooperate in many different directions - with private individuals seeking a new home context, large industrial concerns wishing to innovate, hotels in search of a new concept, and museums wanting a face lift. Her proposals are not limited to improving what already exists, they formulate new logics that rotate around modularity and interlinking concepts.

Beautiful to look at, practical lighting using fluorescent

I just had Ierace pendant installed. Just as I imagined from looking at the pictures, this pendant is so beautiful for a modernist who prefers minimalistic beauty and eco-friendly fixtures.

The only blemish I can see is that tiny pinhole-like spots are on the glass shade and after all the finger prints during installation, it took an effort to clean. That is when I realized the pinholes. If the shade was made of materials other than clear glass - perhaps appropriately patterned or not so smooth, it may not show these tiny flaws. It took a certified electrician two hours to install this properly, as he has not seen this type before and the instructions were very terse so he relied on his skill. I had a 40W fluorescent circular bulb on hand so it was used; which is enough light for the dining room, but I will relace with 55W natural light type later. I will enjoy this pendant for years to come.
