Perfect blend of form and function - favorite lighting instrument

Great light source (hi and lo beam, directional but not too narrowly focused), highly functional design (easy to manipulate, accommodates very diverse configurations), timeless beauty (elegant yet masculine, beautiful proportions and scale) extraordinary quality (very durable construction and finish). I bought my first 25 years ago and have used it daily as a desk lamp. It's still like new. I've since bought two more for myself and several for friends.

Looks as if it was custom designed for me and my Loft furnishings

I debated whether to purchase this product and from where. After looking at the web sites and reading reviews I knew it was for me and from YLighting. However, didn't realize until it was next to my sofa how beautiful it really is. After receiving the package, it was very easy to put together and then attach the floor support which I'll give in the next review. The quality is fine and the colour I chose - white is actually cream. This looks better in my Loft with a clotted cream colour sofa by Minotti. The product is quite heavy and YLighting went out of there way to make sure I received it in a timely manner. Thanks YLighting.

It's the Original!

Not for office anymore! Looks great in our living room. The built and finish is just perfect. The only improvement I can think of is how the cord is connected to base. It should be connected to the bottom base not the main body. I'm sure this is a challenge in design but other than that!... I'm loving my Tizio Classic.

The perfect desk lamp

We owned our first Tizio for 15 years when it was dropped and damaged. We immediately wanted to replace it and have since sent our broken lamp for possible repair with Artemide. Both YL Lighting and Artemide were great to work with on replacement and hopefully, repair of our original lamp.

High quality - contemporary design

This is our second Tizio. Perfect for reading or any task lighting. Solid base given its delicate design. Rotation a real plus to serve two or more adjacent areas.

The best of the best!!

I loved this lamp the moment I pulled it out of the box! Looks great in any setting, especially in my studio. When people see this, they don't need to ask if I'm an artist--they know!

love it, one thing to consider

this lamp is beautiful and beautifully made. joints all very fluid and swivel + hinge joints allow you to point the light in any direction. only thing to consider is how much direct light you need versus ambient light. it's excellent with task lighting but if you want to light a whole room it only has a more 'spotlight' effect. and thus produces harsh shadows. even so, the shadows are kinda cool. would definitely recommend in general.

Hi...Your company is great. You have excellent service, but the Tizio product is becoming inferior. I have purchased 3 Tizio lamps from you, and two of them have become defective in less then a year of use. Ther base electronics stops working properly. I attempted to have one repaired and had no success. I still ave one brolem lamp. It is a shame that a manufacturer after so many years decides to cut costs and build an inferior products. Ihave purchaed a least a dozen lamps over the years and just recently has the proct been bad.

Great product

It looks great and functions even better. This is a classic that goes with Contemporary homes and more traditional ones as well. we use them in both types.

Most importantly the light is excellent and fullu useable including reading (full light) as well as for other purposes (dimmed).

Great table lamp

The product works extremely well and looks great in either a contemporary room or in a more traditional one.

The light with it's high switch, is great for reading. With the low switch, t's great for general lighting.

Can't go wrong with a classic.

Already had one tizio classic, decided on another for either side of bed. Perfect for reading. Used a dimmer for ambience. Looks great.

Slightly disappointed in the quality.

The quiality of the Tizio Classic did not seem great. Instead of the material used feeling thick or solid it felt like tin. The lamp was also to large and awkward. I couldn't get it to stay in the right position. The smaller size would have been better.

SIMPLY ELEGANT

The Tizio is absolutely a Classic! Beautiful as a object and functional as targeted light for reading. I purchased two for the bedroom, although the design is so versatile that it could go anywhere you want task lighting.

This is the best desk light money can buy.

I work in my desk for more than 10 hours per day. This light can be adjusted to many positions, it has an outstanding, truly outstanding light distribution and thus it illuminates perfectly all the areas of my dest, and it has a fantastic design. It is not cheap, but then again a Ferrari is not cheap either, and in this case you pay for Italian design and German engineering in one product!!

Great lamp!

It is very functional. Adding a support to the lamp makes it very flexible to be used as a table lamp and a floor lamp for a nearby sofa at the same time

Lamp and work of art in one piece

I bought a second Tizio Classic Lamp as I like these so much. My other lamp is white and got a bit dirty especially when it gets hot and the dust has burnt in over the last 20 years but still in best function. So for an everlasting lamp I would recommend the black color. Overall the best lamp for a desk with an outstanding classic design.

I bought the Tizio to replace the one I had for close to 25 years. The transformer had gone out. The Tizio is great.

Everyone should have at least one of these fixtures; either in their home or office or both. Its no wonder that thiis fixture is in the Museum of Modern Art, The Tizio is a true classic. Its simple lines and counterweight design work perfectly in any decor from a traditional to a more modern look. Purchase this fixture for today and recieve years of delight everytime you adjust its position and turn it on off.

Disappointed!!

As someone who owns earlier models of this lamp, I am very disappointed in the overall balance of this newer version it simply doesn't move as fluidly as my older models. Maybe this is a lemon or like every thing else these days that's more expensive and seems to be of a lesser quality. This newer lamp uses a 50 watt bulb, which produces much less light compared to the earlier model that use an 55 watt bulb, who would think that 5 watts would make such a difference!!!

A little disappointed

I have the earlier versions of this model which take the 55 watt bulb, unlike the newer Classic Tizio which uses a 50 watt bulb, the light on the high beam equals the low beam on the older models-"who would think that 5 watts could make such a difference".

Exceptional!! Bought all outdoor lighting from Y Lighting when I built my house..now continue to add to the selection.

I had a Tizio years ago when they first came out. Decided to purchase from YLighting as I had nothing but a wonderful experience with them when I purchased lighting during my home construction.
Once again, quick service, expertly packaged and a pleasure to do business with them. They also have the best in contemporary lighting!! Difficult if not impossible to find locally or even online!

A wonderful piece of table architecture, an elegant and sophisticated work of art!

The Tizio lamp is one that I have owned since it first appeared on the market in the early 70s, a gift from my wife. It is elegant and user friendly, a combination of sculpture and utility. Only recently did I decide I had waited long enough to purchase a second one (to serve as "bookends" on either side of our bed) and took the plunge. I am happy I did. The "look" is stunning, and the lighting is bright enough (even at its lower setting) for both my wife and I, who are avid readers, to enjoy our bedtime reading, easily able to control and direct the lighting overhead to suit our individual needs. (My older Tizio, however, did not come with the protective, frosted safety glass-shield in the lamp head or the pin-like handle for moving the lamp head into position (to avoid the possible danger of coming in contact with the very hot halogen bulb) and must, therefore, be maneuvered with more caution than the newer model. Nonetheless, they make a handsome "couple"; and my wife and I love them, feeling privileged to own an "almost identical" pair.

This is a Grateful Review For the Customer Service Folks @ YLighting

If you are buying on line, buy with these people. They have everything that you want, like others of course, but, they take good care of you if something goes wrong with the manufacturers they rep. I go back to the Y because I know I'm covered. And they've got everything you might be looking for.

Still Crazy (About it) After All These Years

When I was a student, I fell in love with the Tizio lamp when I saw it in a collection at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC. At the end of my studies, instead of spending the graduation check on travel or a working wardrobe, I bought the lamp in black and have admired it on my desk for decades. This year, two colleagues whom I admire greatly both elected to go off to other adventures. I selected this lamp both for its beautiful function and for the intergenerational moment it represents. Theirs are silver -- not sure they might prefer the black, but no matter. It remains an icon of life on the verge of breaking out!
