He is considered one of the most iconic designers of his generation and his products typically feature a combination of technical innovation, simplicity of form and an element of wit and surprise. After beginning as a designer in the styling department at Mercedez-Benz, Sapper eventually opened his own studio in 1959 where many of his most prolific designs were created.
