I have owned two Tolomeo reading lamps for many years and they have been incredible in terms of function and appearance. When it came time to look for a new task lamp for my work table, I naturally turned to the Tolomeo line. My husband bought me the silver large version of this lamp for my office. I saw it online, but really wasn't as hyped about it as he was. Then he set it up and I was Wow'd by it! It's clean, linear, and sleek color are hard not to like. The base even though shiny has great texture with the striations and adds to the cool brushed metal lines of the piece. He made the right call and I'm super stoked each day that I turn it on...it's a work of art in a simple modern way. Also, a side note: I was watching Rizzoli & Isles on TNT & guess what light they had on all the officer's desk....you got it, my lamp!! I was like a proud Momma!! (thanks to my husband--of course!)

This is indeed an extraordinary lamp. It is beautiful in design, extremely sturdy and well made and exactly the right size for our use, which is as a night-stand lamp. The lamp looks great, but there was some slight damage on the diffuser even though I bought the lamp brand new. Also, the arm isn't strong enough to support the weight of the Philips A19 AmbientLED light bulb (which is fairly heavy), I had to tighten the arm knobs a lot.

The lamp is also now made in Hungry, which really isn't that big of a deal, but kind of upsetting.

The lamp looks great and works well, however, a particular piece to be assembled in order to prevent the lamp from turning too far to the right or the left doesn't seem to fit. It took weeks for the manufacturer to respond by email.

It is large enough and so easily adjusted as to give light where ever is needed in my corner "L" shaped desk in my study. I have not experienced problems with shadows or glare on my paper work.

I actually ordered the "classic" table lamp first and it turned out to be way too large for a 50 inch desk. I now have the Micro Tolomeo Desk Lamp and it is perfect. The classic is a large lamp and needs a large space. Check dimensions before you order. In terms of the product, it is beautiful, functional, and looks great in almost any setting.

High quality material and workmanship, excellent design, especially as you can position the lamp head smoothly into a vast number of positions. Can accommodate a 26 watt spiral fluorescent bulb, supplying sufficient foot-lamps for a task lamp. This is a major common flaw for most so called "desk task lamps".

Spiral is much much cooler, so you can position the lamp-head very close to your work, and use a 20 watt spiral fluorescent bulb instead.

Also like the opening in the top of the shade to supply a small amount of ambient light up towards ceiling, although I would like the opening to have been larger.

To keep costs down, lamp base is only in polished aluminum.. chrome looking to me, and it appears to be

scratched super easily, so I avoid placing anything on the 9 inch diameter stand.

I would like available matching bases for the black lamp, white lamp, or one to match the dull aluminum shade, or a rubber covered one to match the power chord.

Also..a great marketing idea would be to sell flat circle covers with a center cut out and a short slit behind the circle to change the covers of the base to fit the lamp, or one's desk decor. I plan to make my own cover.

Finally, this lamp's arm reach is long enough to use on a night stand for reading while sitting up in your bed. It is large enough to replace a floor reading lamp, by having it on a table next to your favorite reading chair. Plug the lamp into a dimmer, and use a incandescent bulb, and it can be used as well as a low light nightstand lamp, but I wouldn't do that, as we all should go green, eventually you won;t be able to buy incandescent bulbs, and, I enjoy the lack of heat.

I've been a fan of Artemide lighting for some time now, and also love my Tizio. I had a hard time deciding between the Tolomeo Micro, Mini or Classic, but went for the full size Classic in the end. I'm pleased with this decision, but it's definitely a large desk lamp and not suitable for a small desk or office. You can alter the brightness of the lamp through use of different bulbs, however I would love this lamp just a bit more if it had two levels like the Tizio, or perhaps a dimmer switch...

YLighting shipped my lamp promptly and connecting the shade and arm to its 9" base was a snap. I have my Tolomeo on the desk in my home office. Its hinged design allows me to direct light wherever I need it, and nowhere else. Plus, it makes a drop-dead gorgeous companion to the MacBook Pro I work at.

Here's a hint: A standard 100 watt bulb emits a lot of heat and leaves the shade warm to the touch -- a compact fluorescent bulb will provide the same brightness and leave the shade (and you) cool.

The Tolomeo is pricey. But if you can afford it -- or have a stimulus check burning a hole in your pocket -- I highly recommend that you grace your desk or home office with this lamp.
