Michele de Lucchi

Born in Ferrara, Michele de Lucchi studied in Padua and in Florence, Italy, where he graduated in architecture in 1975. After completing his studies architecture, his friendship with Ettore Sottsass and Alessandro Mendini took him to Milan at the end of the Seventies, where he became one of the main activists in the provocative designer group Memphis. His approach to the creation of new styles in design helped to play an important role in the Memphis movement, but by the late 1980's, de Lucchi had moved on to more traditional designs. After working with Artemide to develop some of their lasting bestsellers, de Lucchi created his Produzione Privata label, which creates small series of his designs featuring exquisite craftsmanship.

This lamp represents the ultimate in terms of functionality.

It does exactly what I need it to do, which is to provide task lighting over a 3'x6' table, without taking up table space. It is almost infinitely adjustable. Aesthetically, it provides a sense of rather delicate mechanical modernism, which, surprisingly, harmonizes with almost any decor.

Stylish, efficient and mobile...I love it!

I have the desk version and I love how this design allows you to adjust it for specific tasks. I love that this version is on wheels, because it is used in a room that doubles as a guest room...everything has to move easily.

I use the lamp to work on my art projects. I am able to adjust the lightweight arm very easily as to zero in on areas of detail.

The only downside I can see is that the cord is very short. Obviously, if it is on wheels, you will be pushing it around. However, there isn't any extra cord to allow for this. Get out your extension cord. Otherwise, very happy.

Timeless, elegant, functional

This is the 5th Tolomeo Lamp I've purchased, in several different sizes. My goal is for every task lamp in my home to be a Tolomeo. They are all elegant, timeless, and great reading/task lamps.
The quality and workmanship are superb.
By the way, I still have the first Tolomeo I purchased over 14 years ago, and it looks/works like it's brand new.
The price and service at YLighting are also superb. I will purchase this lamp again.

5 Stars - Superb in every way!

I wrote an earlier review and neglected to 'select' the star rating, which may lead to a misleading overall rating. This lamp deserves a 5-star rating, so I'm submitting this additional review.

Nice modern lamp, harsh light

This lamp has a sleek modern look and compliments our eclectic modern livingroom. The light produced is pretty harsh and if it is directly on something or in your eyes it is glaring. I am still searching for the right bulb which may resovle this problem.

Buy Quality and you only cry once!

Well, the Tolomero Classic Floor Lamp proved that old saying true. I cried with joy while reading "Souls of Black Folk" under its light. It was easy to assemble, after I read the directions. It is a classic lamp that will never go out of style. It is thing of beauty. It is Elegant/Timeless like Duke Ellington's music.

Now, I am in search of the perfect reading chair. I am thinking Eames.

Timeless Design

We bought the lamp as a lounge chair reading lamp and love it so far. It is the perfect size, looks and works great.

One thing we found, though, is that you need to tighten the hinges when using heavier, LED style light bulbs. Not a big deal (no tools required, just twist some knobs) but it makes adjusting the light a little bit more work if you do it frequently. Just something to keep in mind.

Great lamp love the modern look of it.

I love the style and look from the Artemide Tolomeo line. This lamp is very well built and has clean lines. The lamps from this line are expensive but well worth it.

Nice lamp

Well built. Purchased it on sale. A couple of plastic parts, which should not be on a lamp of this price IMO, but nonetheless I like it.

Will probably purchase a mega the next time there is a sale.
