    Michele de Lucchi

Born in Ferrara, Michele de Lucchi studied in Padua and in Florence, Italy, where he graduated in architecture in 1975. After completing his studies architecture, his friendship with Ettore Sottsass and Alessandro Mendini took him to Milan at the end of the Seventies, where he became one of the main activists in the provocative designer group Memphis. His approach to the creation of new styles in design helped to play an important role in the Memphis movement, but by the late 1980's, de Lucchi had moved on to more traditional designs. After working with Artemide to develop some of their lasting bestsellers, de Lucchi created his Produzione Privata label, which creates small series of his designs featuring exquisite craftsmanship.

    Excellent Little Clip-On Lamp

Bought two of these to clip onto bookshelves to be used as reading lamps. Not quite as flexible as to placement as hoped for but definitely adequate. Produces wonderful non-glare light for reading. Just what we were looking for. And they're unobtrusive.

Not as impressed as I had hoped

    + Elegant, no-frills design.

    + Switch logically placed.

+ Nice long 6 foot cord.

+ Uses a normal bulb--40 watt more than enough for bedside use.

    stopped working after 2 years

The turnaround for delivery of this product was pretty long, about 4-6 weeks. There was a metal piece you had to attach with no instructions, that I believe helps you to adjust the light. On our light, it seems to be faulty, easily falling off the light. That was a disappointment considering the price of the lamp. We already have an Artemide floor lamp and desk lamp, so our expectations were pretty high.

If NASA made a clip light, it wouldn't be half as good as this one.

Worked great for two years then nothing, tried different outlets and multiple bulbs. would expect it to last much longer for the price.

    perfect on gallery ledge

Tolomeo Clip Spot Light is a gorgeous piece of engineering. It articulates in any dimension and throws a wonderful, controllable arc of light. It's worth every penny even though it's darn expensive. Buy two, I dare you.

    Great but depends on use.

This light is exactly what I needed: compact without being dainty or flimsy, easily repositionable, and with a nice long cord. Handles a nice bright bulb too, so my entire worksurface is illuminated. The fact that it is Tolomeo and therefore coordinates with other lamps in my home is just a bonus.

I love the color, the design, as well as it's functionality. My client's daughter uses them on both levels of her bunk bed.

Great light, but clip did not work for the way I intended to use it. I wanted to clip it on to my headboard, but the clip was not big or strong enough to hold.

    Great little light .

I also own the Tolomeo Mini for my own daughter's desk. It is very cute and very easy to use even for a seven year old.

Functional light, mostly where you want it

After searching several lighting stores I was happy to find this small spot light. This clip on light is a clean, timeless design that fits in with most decor. Seems to be built to last.

    beautyful design meets great functionality

This is a really nice lamp, but the combination of the heavy cord and clip design doesn't give you all the versatility you might think. It's a classic design, and really attractive piece, but we haven't found it to be especially flexible in use. This would be a great light if you have the right application for it. See our review of the Tolomeo Wall Lights for more on this series.
