Michele de Lucchi

Born in Ferrara, Michele de Lucchi studied in Padua and in Florence, Italy, where he graduated in architecture in 1975. After completing his studies architecture, his friendship with Ettore Sottsass and Alessandro Mendini took him to Milan at the end of the Seventies, where he became one of the main activists in the provocative designer group Memphis. His approach to the creation of new styles in design helped to play an important role in the Memphis movement, but by the late 1980's, de Lucchi had moved on to more traditional designs. After working with Artemide to develop some of their lasting bestsellers, de Lucchi created his Produzione Privata label, which creates small series of his designs featuring exquisite craftsmanship.

The Tolomeo Mini is ideal task lighting

I needed to find a lamp that could give task lighting for reading and that could also easily swivel to allow my son to both read in bed and to read and work at his nearby desk during the day. The Mini Floor lamp is perfect for those tasks and it has allowed us to solve two needs with one lamp. It adds a beautiful touch of style to a small room without a large footprint. Highly recommended.

The classic design doesn't bore me

We bought Tolomeo Mini Floor Lamp for the living room where we read a lot. This is a perfect reading lamp which is adjustable so easily. The base is so stable that we are able to adjust the lamp position with one hand without holding the stem of the light fixture. I am about to buy two Tolomeo lamps for the bed sides. They will give us perfect angle of light for reading at night.

Timeless and highly functional

The lamp is a classic. The base plate is surprisingly beautiful and the lamp is a good weight and well anchored. The lamp has excellent functionality if you are seeking a floor lamp that can provide light for reading and for close work. We are using it next to a bed but it is very versatile and would work well in a variety of settings. When I ordered the middle size I worried that I needed the largest size, and happily I relied on the sales consultant's advice because the largest size would have been overwhelming for our space.
