Design by Michele De Lucchi, Giancarlo Fassina.

In 1989, when the Tolomeo table/task was given the Compasso d'Oro award for Italian industrial design it was credited with having achieved the perfect marriage between design and engineering that works together in total "sync" to materialize an idea and create the perfect object for industrial production.

Since then, the Tolomeo's award-winning design, engineering and performance features have been further refined in a complete series of models for table, floor, wall, track and suspension application.

The Tolomeo Classic Wall Light is a wall mounted fixture for adjustable direct, task lighting. Available with a S or J bracket mounting hardware. The S Bracket is surface mounted bracket support that is suitable cord and plug connection to a wall outlet only. The J Bracket is a wall junction box or surfaced mounted support for with or with out the plug. Both the S and J brackets are die-cast polished aluminum. Ships with 10 feet of field-cuttable cord and plug. The plug can be removed by an electrician during hardwire installation. The Tolomeo Classic Wall Light is available in aluminum, white, black or polished aluminum finishes.

Michele de Lucchi

Born in Ferrara, Michele de Lucchi studied in Padua and in Florence, Italy, where he graduated in architecture in 1975. After completing his studies architecture, his friendship with Ettore Sottsass and Alessandro Mendini took him to Milan at the end of the Seventies, where he became one of the main activists in the provocative designer group Memphis. His approach to the creation of new styles in design helped to play an important role in the Memphis movement, but by the late 1980's, de Lucchi had moved on to more traditional designs. After working with Artemide to develop some of their lasting bestsellers, de Lucchi created his Produzione Privata label, which creates small series of his designs featuring exquisite craftsmanship.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love these lamps! These lamps are lovely. They do exactly what we want them to do (bedside lamps that don't have to sit on a nightstand that offer really good lighting for reading. My husband can read without too much light spilling out and I can do the same. You'll need to provide your own screws. I ordered two and had a defective unit, the customer service people were so quick to deal with getting another one sent out...it was a great experience all around. I would recommend these lights but also anything from the store (customer service was excellent).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have 4 Tolomeos... and I want more! I think I can't get enough of these Tolomeo lamps. They are so versatile, can be moved to any direction, the light that comes from the shade is great and also you have the indirect light that comes from the small opening on the back. Fit and finish is something you will expect after paying $300 and made in Italy. Super modular and several options for surface and mounting applications. I decided to go for the aluminum finish in order to keep them as original as possible and in some cases, to match my mac setup of glass/aluminum. I have 2 minis on the night stands, a wall mounted version for the computer desk and a big tolomeo mega for the living room. I think I will get the clip-on next or a micro for a small desk. It's an addiction for sure. joel p.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice design I like the functionality and design of these lights. Definitely be sure to check the dimensions before ordering, though. I ordered the micro size, and it's not what you might think of as micro. (Maybe I'm biased by a childhood with Micro Machines.) My only complaint with the micro size is that I wanted to cover the cord with a channel that would attach to the wall. It's difficult to do that, though, with the on/off switch located on the cord. On the other models, I believe the switch is actually on the lamp, rather than on the cord.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mostly good I ordered the black mini lamp with the J-base (wall mount). The black lamp looks pretty good in real life. The movement and balance is light and it stays were you put it. The armature feels light, strong, and precise with good springs and tensioned cables. There's an engineer somewhere that is proud of this armature. In contrast, the lamp shade feels cheap, thin, and lacks that precise movement. I'm not sure how well the whole package would withstand kid-abuse. I was expecting the J-base to be matching matte-black. It only comes in a shiny polished aluminum. It matches the joints in the lamp, not the sexy body of the lamp. It's not a bad look on the wall, but it looks like cost-cutting when you open the boxes. I think a matching base would look better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't wait to hook it up I received my Tolomeo Wall light. After revieing everyones reviews I went woth the black ( BEST CHOICE) Unfortuanltly I have not been able to hook it up yet. I'm moving to Sao Paulo in Dec, but I know once I hook it up in my new location it is going to look amazing. I have bought several things from Y-lighting and I have never been disapointed. All of theire product has been exceptional and the prices are very lower or about the same as other companys. Sincerly Happy owner of the Tolomeo Wall lamp 8-)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits our needs We were looking for a floor lamp to sit next to the piano, illuminating the keys and music (sort of a task lamp for a piano). Most floor reading lamps are about 50" tall, a good 10"-20" too short. The few that weren't either were too expensive, didn't have a long enough horizontal arm to reach over the pianists shoulder, or didn't match out style. The wall mounted Tolomeo was the perfect solution. It would have 5 stars if the base that mounts to the wall was white to match the rest of the fixture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from iconic design that functions perfectly. I use this sconce as a bedside reading lamp. it functions beautifully--the articulated arm lets the user direct the light exactly where he/she wants it, without disturbing other people in bed. the design is iconic. recognizable but not a cliche. I love it contrasted with very traditional furniture, or mixed in with modern pieces as well. don't be afraid of the black finish--it's cool and makes a dramatic statement, rather than the silver finish which is more common.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Timeless Classic Lamps I bought two of the Tolomeo lamps for my bedroom. I didn't want to take up space from my bedside tables, so I decided to go with the mini wall mounted model. Even thou the micro model would have done the job, I purchased the mini (a little bigger) because they have the switch integrated in the shade, not in the cord like the micro. I also got the J-bracket which conceals the wires. The result is neat and minimal. These lamps are beautiful, timeless pieces.
