Design by Michele De Lucchi, Giancarlo Fassina.
In 1989, when the Tolomeo table/task was given the Compasso d'Oro award for Italian industrial design it was credited with having achieved the perfect marriage between design and engineering that works together in total "sync" to materialize an idea and create the perfect object for industrial production.
Since then, the Tolomeo's award-winning design, engineering and performance features have been further refined in a complete series of models for table, floor, wall, track and suspension application.

Michele de Lucchi
Born in Ferrara, Michele de Lucchi studied in Padua and in Florence, Italy, where he graduated in architecture in 1975. After completing his studies architecture, his friendship with Ettore Sottsass and Alessandro Mendini took him to Milan at the end of the Seventies, where he became one of the main activists in the provocative designer group Memphis. His approach to the creation of new styles in design helped to play an important role in the Memphis movement, but by the late 1980's, de Lucchi had moved on to more traditional designs. After working with Artemide to develop some of their lasting bestsellers, de Lucchi created his Produzione Privata label, which creates small series of his designs featuring exquisite craftsmanship.
Giancarlo Fassina was born and raised in Milan, Italy. He obtained a degree in Architecture at the Politecnico University in Milan and has worked on several projects involving Industrial Design and has created lighting for Artemide, Luceplan, to name a few. He is a recipient of the Compasso D'oro award for his Tolomeo Series of lamps which he designed together with Michelle de Lucchi.
His work and experiences in different product industrial sectors have allowed him focus his design on projecting lamps & planning and furnishing exhibitions as well as museums. He has collaborated with some of the most important companies in the lighting sector, Luceplan included, for which he projected the lamp Birzi together with Carlo Forcolini.
The Artemide Group since 1959, has offered not only lamps for moments of relaxation at home, but also large sophisticated
installations for illuminating public and private professional activities.
Artemide's technological and productive expertise is achieved through research and developement centers, with product planning
and engineering, laboratories for technical conformity and self-certification tests, and production units equipped with state-of-
the-art processes. A production structure that can offer expertise in the processing of traditional materials such as glass,
as well as the capacity of innovation with novel materials, such as titanium. Artemide's vast range of options reflects the
commitment of the whole organization to provide a product guaranteed by the Artemide brand, throughout the world, with an image
that is strong and consistent: that of a leader in the lighting field.
The wall spot is fits the bedside perfectly and is a wonderful compliment to the desk lamps and mega floor lamp we have.

Great lamps, but these are not the plug-in version
I love the design of these lamps, but these are not the plug-in version, so you'll have to bring an electrician to install them, just keep that in mind!

We were looking for an alternative to a typical bathroom fixture and found this one. We located one over the recessed medicine cabinet and it looks and works great. I was happy to finally find something that both my husband and I liked!

Tolomeo Range is a great one
I first bought the wall-fitted "dentist's drill" TOLOMEO 25+ years ago whn it was the only model; since then the range has been extended greatly with small and big versions, small spots, and ceiling-hung lights. They are all good and now have a classical, timeless - certainly not tired - look to them.
However, one has to fault Aretmise's packing - wholly inadequate and insubstantial - so much so that one of the first pair came with a squashed shade; and then, instead of just sending a replacement shade, they sent TWO completely new ones. Silly!

Fantastick range of lighting from Artemide
All the Artemide products are marvellously designed by designers who really know their stuff; and then the engineering is great.
By: Jonathan S., Homeowner (ny)
it is a great small chic modern sconce. not alot of flexibility- meaning the light bulb and shade is close to the wall - but we love the look and it works beautifully. we put above our master bed in an 1824 farmhouse and get lots of comments- it is simple, works well and easy to install.

I enjoyed my light and the staff at Ylighting are very knowledgable and friendly.

Looks great. For new construction-have not installed yet.

Using two of them for over the head board. A classic design that works with my midcentury furnitures and also the new build modern home I am in. Good design is timeless.

efficient, versatile reading light
Originally did not receive the wall cord for installation, did not intend to have an electrician direct wire to box. YLighting CSR was very helpful and had the cord promptly sent to me from Artemide. Installation was easy. Accepts standard CFL bulb at 11w with output equiv. to 65w incandescent.

Great reading light!
Italian made with clean, crisp design. Accepts energy efficient CFL curly bulb in place of high consumption incandescent.

The perfect contemporary bedside light for a compact space.
I initially put off ordering this light because I thought the price was a bit high. After looking around I realized that it is one of the few contemporary bedside spot lights on the market for a small space. Easy to install and the customer service from Ylighting has been fantastic !

Beautiful design in keeping with the Tolomeo series
This is a wall-mount version of the now classic Tolomeo desk lamp. The fixture uses the standard Tolomeo shade, with a very nice simple circular wall plate - very nice looking.
I haven't yet installed it, so I can't comment on its functionality.
Even though the product was identified as being on back-order, and due to arrive in 5-6 weeks, it ended up shipping much faster than expected, within a week.

returend , not as described in on-line literature
I unfortunatley had to return teh item. I have two versions of the Tolomeo as desk lamps. The Wall lamp was indicated as available as an optional plug-in version. Apparently , this is no longer the case. Since I do not have a junction box at the intended location, I coul dnot use teh lamp.
I intend to order the clip-on version

Perfect Spot for Bedside Reading
These fixtures are ideal for wall mounting on both sides of our queen bed. Lovely form and practical function!

The wall spot didn't work to light my kitchen bar as I intended but it works just great in another room. I really like the no-nonsense design and functional look. Lets it work well in different locations.

I love these lights. They look good, and they function very well! Definitely recommend.

Still not installed, but looks great in box.
I am very excited about the Tolomeo Wall Spot. Overall, we have a very traditional renovation, but I wanted some more modern touches. Getting two Tolomeo Wall Spots to be the sconces over our traditional winged back bed is the perfect solution for my need for clean lines and eclecticism.

Nicely made, but dimensions aren't as shown/indicated
I bought these lamps based on the dimensions shown on the site. Unfortunately, the actual dimensions differ, so I can't use them as plans. Really nicely made, though.

I like the sleek simplicity of the Tolomeo Wall Spot Light.
I do enjoy this product. I now have two in my home and plans for two more. The lights are simple to install, although the instructions leave a lot to be desired. Being able to direct the light in different directions is very nice.

Perfect bedside reading light.
Really nice, quality, compact bedside light. Perfect for our guest bedroom -with one on each side we like that it's low-profile. The light is multidirectional due to it's great swivel feature. Expensive, but feel that it will outlast a cheaper light that this is replacing. The silver color is subtle and blends nicely into the room.

Great contemporary lights.
Wonderful looking lights which can be positioned the way you want. Beautiful, modern looks.

These wall mounted lights provide excellent in-bed reading and good contemporary look. Well made. We will look forward to enjoying them for many years.

Excellent Problem Solver
Well-constructed light, quality feel, worth the money. Excellent solution for a corner of a room that needed extra light but was not suited for a floor lamp. This Tolomeo lamp mounts neatly and semi-permanently to the wall, but is plugged into an outlet, obviating the need for an electrician to run new wiring to the lamp (but the lamp can also be hardwired if desired, and includes the necessary hardware). Plenty of illumination with the 100 watt halogen bulb that I use. Infinitely adjustable swivel action in all directions. Generous cord length. Nice, solid switch.

Love the product...
Lights are great. These Tolomeo spots are being used as bedside lamps for my 10 year olds built in beds - although I didn't install them, the handy man in my building did and it took him 15 min. or less for each. Looks great - works great. But a word about the shipping process - originally we were shipped the wrong style lamps (clip on). Although Y lighting handled all the return & replacement shipping (UPS) they gave wrong instructions. So when UPS just showed up asking for a pick up we were unprepared. I'll have to wait for my credit card bill to make sure I wasn't charged for two sets of lamps.

Not thrilling, but good looking.
We recently purchased two Tolomeo Wall Spot lights for either side of our bed. We chose them for their stainless shades; it's hard to find bedside lights with stainless shades! So we don't feel these lights are show-stoppers and would have loved to find something that we drooled over, but this was the best we could find and they look good. We are happy with the light they emit and flexibility of the lamps themselves. Great fro reading and a nice low-pro look that works well in any modern space.

Perfect and versatile.
I now own five Tolomeo wall spot lights. They are beautiful, practical and surprisingly versatile. They work in the kitchen, bedroom, and even hallway. All of mine are hardwired. There's a little black 'plug' inside the box so the cord can be clipped and finished. I was suspicious at first, but am now very happy with these lights.

Great small designer wall lamp.
Great small designer wall lamp. Perfect for wall mounting bedside or near a work area.
By: A.Briseno, Architect (Jackson Heights, NY, USA)
It's a very stylist, though functional wall lamp.
THe aluminum finish makes it very contemporary. Yet, it is functional as it can be adjusted in several directions.
