The story of Asano began in 1990, when Shigeru Uchida designed soft-shaped lamps, pleasant to the viewer's eye. The lamps are handmade in Japan in the Gifu prefecture, so each fixture is unique and slightly different from one another. Rice paper used for production creates soft folds and diffuses the light, so it provides a relaxing and soothing illumination.
The simplicity of the Asano lamps is characterized by using a wire armature, placed under a soft layer of semi-translucent rice paper. Lamps' bases are constructed of bamboo, so each fixture stays in place where it's desired. The Asano lamps are perfect for modern bedrooms and children's rooms, or anywhere decorative and diffused illumination is preferred.
