The Berenice table lamp is the inimitable founding product in a new type range of reasonably small sprung-jointed lamps. The fluid articulation of its movements and its perfect stability make Berenice a light that can be moved around without occupying precious space and with minimum effort. Berenice operates with a transformer that allows low voltage power to reach the bulb through its rods without electric wiring, allowing the fixture to remain slim and elegant. By simply touching the head ring, which is well insulated and independent from the bulb housing, the light can be moved in any direction.

Metal parts in diecast aluminum, reinforced nylon frictional joints, rynite head. Parabolic reflector in pressed glass or metal.

The best light from an attractive yet unobtrusive task lamp.

This is the best task lamp that I have ever used. It is also available, yet remains inconspicuous when not in use. The halogen light is warm and never seems to tire my eyes. I highly recommend this lamp!

I love these lamps! We've had some others for almost 14 years and they are still my favorite lamps. I've only had to change the bulbs in them like once or twice in all that time and we use them all the time.

DO NOT BUY!! Bought this lamp in June and have had problems with almost from the day it arrived.

Contacted YLighting and returned the lamp to Berenice. After 40 days it was returned damaged. Complained and was told I would be given parts to fix it. Now I am told to return it again to be fixed again. No thanks.

Very very close to the perfect light

I've just happily ordered two more Berenice Lamps. This makes five lamps of the same type, but different sizes, that we have and use on a daily basis. I really can't say enough about these lamps. They preform so efficiently. Their design is ultra simple, easy to use, they take up very little space and provide focused and easy to manipulate lighting. We've had two lamps for eight years, and another for nearly five years with absolutely no issues, other than a couple of burned out bulbs. Some care does have to be taken putting the bulbs in, and initially installing the flat glass protector and the glass lamp shade. The shade, in particular, has to be put on just how the instructions indicate. But if done right, with just the right amount of pressure, it snaps right in and stays secure. There are really no other issues that I've encountered that have made me question these lights. I'm not sure why one has to pay more for the ivory glass lamp shade than the other colors. That seems odd to me. We have a blue one that I like, but the green somehow drove me crazy after a year or so and I opted to buy a simple ivory colored shade, which again, costs more than the others...but was good for me. I know these colored shades are a signature part of the lamp, but if you're planning to use one of these as a bedside light, you might consider getting the metal shade as it keeps the peripheral light to a minimum, if that's a concern. Our recent two lamps have smaller transformers, and that's a welcome change. All in all an excellent, beautifully designed light that seems to last.

    Love this Bernice table lamp!

This is my second Bernice table lamp and although I am in a period of my life in which I think less is more I just had to have another. Loved my experience ordering the lamp, learned the meaning of Monocacy "A well sensed garden". Will look to Ylighting for all my future lighting needs.

Beautiful but transformer delays switching and changing/handling of bulb is too delicate

Construction and design detailing is much better than many "look alikes." Easy to assemble but the transformer delays switching and the access to changing of the bulb is difficult given the need to wear gloves to handle the bulb.

    Don't settle for a knock-off!

This table lamp is so perfect that my husband and I have bought at least 10 of them over the years. We have occasionally tried cheaper ones or variations of the design, but we keep coming back to the Bernice. It's just about flawless!

    Berenice a winner again!

We find the Berenice table lamps ideal for reading in bed. They focus the light where it needs to be without flooding the room unnecessarily. They also allow the bed mate to sleep without the glare of overhead lights distrubing that person. Their flexibility and rotation radius are great assets. Well-designed and engineered lamps! We love them.

    Exactly as I remember

Long ago, I had the identical lamp which I gave up as I moved houses. The easy assembly of this quickly arriving purchase provides light like I remember and is handsome as I recall. I use as a bedside reading light. It is perfect for its purpose, easy to maneuver and its use does not disturb my mate.

    Love my Berenice!

I had a halogen floor light next to my bed, but I was now going to have a table there and needed a table light. I've always like the looks of the Berenice. I really wanted a red shade, but for some reason they are no longer available. Settled on the blue, which is fine. A little tricky to assemble. Hoping that halogen bulb never burns out! Overall, I do really like the looks and function of this light.

An excellent reading lamp that is light and highly adjustable.

I love this reading lamp. Over the past 10 years, I have purchased at least 8 of them, and I continue to be impressed by the versatility, the brightness, the excellent design, and the excellent lighting it provides. I use my lamps for reading, and they are wonderful in that they have a light beam that is focused and does not light up the room, allowing me to read easily in a dark room without disturbing my wife nearby. I would recommend this lamp to anyone.

    I love the light

I have always wanted this light and am thrilled to have it in blue. It is a perfect balance of modernity and classicism.

    This lamp deserves your consideration!

The Berenice is a fantastic lamp. The design has been around for quite a while, but here's the thing: It's the best task lamp I've ever used.

    PROS:

    - Adjustable in almost every way imaginable,

    - Extremely high quality light that is warm, clear, and well-directed,

    - Substantial, rock solid base that allows hassle-free adjustment,

    - Absolute top-notch components and construction, and

    - The most functional design I've encountered.

    CONS:

    - Lamp cannot be dimmed.

I compared the Berenice with many other models, and came to the conclusion that it was the best lamp overall. I am extremely happy with my purchase and am pleased to recommend YLighting as well. I consider this lamp a good value, and heartily recommend it as worthy of your consideration.

    Elegant

It's even more elegant than the pictures suggest. One thing to keep in mind: even though the light is reasonably well focused, 35 watts might be much less light than you are expecting. I'm still making the adjustment. Part of the problem is having a brighter light on the other side of mydesk. Looks a bit odd, having light of different intensity and color. I didn't think of that.
