Available options may differ from photo. Design by Omer Arbel. The 14 Series are a family of low voltage pendants designed to be clustered in groups. Each individual pendant is an articulated, seamed, cast glass sphere with a frosted cylindrical void which houses a 10 watt xenon or halogen lamp. Unlike most contemporary lighting, the 14 Series pendants are visually quite subtle in and of themselves - they do not dominate a room. Instead, they are designed for clustering - gaining tremendous visual strength when multiplied - the effect being of many tiny candles encased in floating spheres of water. The light interacts with the imperfections and bubbles of the cast glass to make a visually rich halo of light. Cast glass is an organic process - imperfect by nature - so each piece produced is unique. Brushed nickel canopy with braided metal coaxial cable mounts to standard octagonal junction box, with electronic transformer fitting inside junction box. He apprenticed under Enric, Miralles, John and Patricia Parkau and Peter Busby, among others; and was centrally involved in several successful high profile building projects and international design competitions. In 2003, Arbel founded a multi-disciplinary design studio focused on blurring the boundaries between the fields of architecture, industrial design, and materials research. It has been said of Arbel's practice that it's industrial design works, in both limited edition and mass produced formats, appear to be motivated by larger scale concepts which can only be considered architectural. Conversely, critics have noted that the practices' architectural works appear to be inspired by an obsession with the object, the possibilities implicit in the process of making, and the intrinsic quality of materials. In 2005, Arbel became Bocci's creative director. His conceptual approach, now fueled by an infrastructure for prototyping, fine craft, manufacturing and distribution, has given birth to a collection of conceptually driven lighting, furniture, electrical accessories and objects, which have since gained significant presence and impact within the design community. BocciBocci is a contemporary design and manufacturing house located in Vancouver, Canada. Unlike typical corporate structures, Bocci operates unconventionally as a co-operative community of designers, architects, craftspeople, technicians, agents, governance bodies, testing facilities, raw materials suppliers and fine shops. Assuming the buyer purchases a perfectly working set he/she will absolutely love this Bocci pendant.
