Design by Omer Arbel.
Made in Vancouver, Canada by Bocci.

The 14.14 is a chandelier comprised of 14 cast glass pendants configured with a rectangular or round canopy. Each individual pendant is an articulated, seamed, cast glass sphere with a frosted cylindrical void which houses a 10 watt xenon or halogen lamp. Unlike most contemporary lighting, the 14 Series pendants are visually quite subtle in and of themselves - like many tiny candles encased in floating spheres of water. The light interacts with the imperfections and bubbles of the cast glass to make a visually rich halo of light. Cast glass is an organic process - imperfect by nature - so each piece produced is unique.

The cast glass is available in the standard clear and can also be ordered in a rich smoked grey. Rectangular or round white powder coated canopy with braided metal coaxial cables. The 14.14 is equipped with "Headphone jack" hardware, allowing the canopy to be mounted on its own, and then the preset length pendants can be individually "plugged in".

Pendants CANNOT be shortened in the field. When ordering please specify the longest height (10 feet max) and the shortest height. Heights are measured from the ceiling to the bottom of the sphere. The remaining pendants will be at random heights between the maximum and the minimum.

Omer Arbel

Omer Arbel trained in the late 1990’s as an architect. He apprenticed under Enric, Miralles, John and Patricia Parkau and Peter Busby, among others; and was centrally involved in several successful high profile building projects and international design competitions.

In 2003, Arbel founded a multi-disciplinary design studio focused on blurring the boundaries between the fields of architecture, industrial design, and materials research. It has been said of Arbel's practice that it's industrial design works, in both limited edition and mass produced formats, appear to be motivated by larger scale concepts which can only be considered architectural. Conversely, critics have noted that the practices' architectural works appear to be inspired by an obsession with the object, the possibilities implicit in the process of making, and the intrinsic quality of materials.

In 2005, Arbel became Bocci's creative director. His conceptual approach, now fueled by an infrastructure for prototyping, fine craft, manufacturing and distribution, has given birth to a collection of conceptually driven lighting, furniture, electrical accessories and objects, which have since gained significant presence and impact within the design community.

Gorgeous!

I LOVE this light! I installed it over my kitchen island and it looks stunning. I ordered 14 pendants, and they are very heavy. My contractor had to do a custom installation because it was too heavy. The light looks stunning on and off, and I love it. My only concern is that I hope any of the fixture does not fall on my counter - my counter is expensive and will break! A friend of mine bought one of these, one pendant fell on her hardwood maple floor and caused a huge dent.
I emailed the manufacturer asking for help on size recommendations, and did not get any. I wish they helped in deciding on sizes since I had a hard time imagining up different sizes. My ceilings are 8.5ft and I ordered the lowest hanging one about 10" from the ceiling and the highest about 22" from the ceiling. I could have gone a bit longer and would have. But all in all, I am very happy with this fixture and Ylighting.

Excellent fixture

We had an great ordering experience through YLIGHTING and our 14.14 arrived much quicker then expected.

Our 14.14 was ordered for the front entry foyer of our home which has 20' ceilings. Installation was straight forward though it is not a standard method so you or your contractor should be prepared. This fixture is very heavy and will do major damage to what ever or who ever it may fall on if not done properly.

Every effort should be made to remote mount the transformer as replacement would be difficult if left within the fixture itself.

We opted for the LED lights, though now I may also order the standard Xenon lights as I'm not completely happy with the color temperature of the LED's. However at approximately $200 for 14 bulbs I'm hesitant to do so. I'd really like to see video on either Ylighting's website or Bocci's of the two bulbs side by side.

This fixture does not, as expected, put out a great deal of light so be warned and be prepared to augment with additional lighting in the room.

We had a slight problem with the connector on one of the globes and it was returned for a new globe assembly. The process was simple and ylighting was mostly responsive but it took longer to get the replacement then the whole fixture.

Overall we've been very happy with this purchase and with Ylighting. If I had one recommendation it would be to thoroughly check availability of any fixture your ordering, and in the quantity your ordering. We had placed a large order for a remodel and have been getting pieces in randomly and not in complete sets. Checking on the status of the missing pieces has not been a great experience to date.

AWESOME!!!

Simply stated everything about the light is AWESOME!

Installation should be preformed by a professional or a very capable DIY'er as it is a bit more technical and heavy duty then a typical chandelier.

We purchased the LED upgrade and while the light color is good the lumen output is rather low if this is the only light source in your room. The xenon bulbs have about double the lumen output with the same light color.

The manufacturer Bocci was also a pleasure to do business with and were very helpful when we spoke to them with several questions!

I would not hesitate purchasing this fixture, its a great value and extremely well built!
