Design by Omer Arbel.
Made in Vancouver, Canada by Bocci.

The 14 Series sconces are visually quite subtle in and of themselves - they do not dominate a room. Each individual sconce is a cast glass half sphere with a frosted cylindrical void which houses a 10 watt xenon or halogen lamp. The light interacts with the imperfections and bubbles of the cast glass to make a visually rich halo of light. Cast glass is an organic process - imperfect by nature - so each piece produced is unique.

Suitable for residential and commercial use, the 14 Series sconce is designed to be used as a wall treatment for a wide range of environments. Use it as accessory lighting in living rooms, hallways or as decorative lighting in building lobbies and other public spaces.

Omer Arbel

Omer Arbel trained in the late 1990’s as an architect. He apprenticed under Enric, Miralles, John and Patricia Parkau and Peter Busby, among others; and was centrally involved in several successful high profile building projects and international design competitions.

In 2003, Arbel founded a multi-disciplinary design studio focused on blurring the boundaries between the fields of architecture, industrial design, manufacturing and materials research. This interdisciplinary approach was born of the necessities of building a sustainable and ambitious office in a context with little opportunity within the cultural periphery, but has since transformed into a structure uniquely positioned to explore the rich area of investigation in the overlap of these fields.

In 2005, Arbel became Bocci's creative director. His conceptual approach, now fueled by an infrastructure for prototyping, fine craft, manufacturing and distribution, has given birth to a collection of conceptually driven lighting, furniture, electrical accessories and objects, which have since gained significant presence and impact within the design community.

Accolades include several Red Dot and iF Awards, a Yellow Pencil Yearbook Entry, the Ron Thom Early Design Achievement Award, a World Architecture Festival Shortlist, with Corrine Hunt, the commission to design the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Medals, and most recently a major installation at the grand atrium of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Sophisticated I bought 3 of the 14.1S Wall Sconces for my utility room. The sconces are semi clear glass so whatever color wall or wallpaper you install them on is cast thru the sconce. I installed them vertically, 10 inches apart, and placed them on a dimmer. They are absolutely beautiful and EVERYONE who sees them is oohing and aahing about them. I would definately recommend them. The Ylighting staff is helpful and professional.
