Design by Omer Arbel. Unlike most contemporary lighting, the 14 Series pendants are visually quite subtle and are designed for clustering. When multiplied they produce the effect of many tiny candles encased in floating spheres of water. The light interacts with the imperfections and bubbles of the cast glass to make a visually rich halo of light. Cast glass is an organic process - imperfect by nature - so each piece produced is unique. The 14.5 Five Pendant Chandelier is comprised of five single cast glass pendants connected by braided steel coaxial cable to a brushed nickel canopy. Each individual pendant is an articulated, seamed, cast glass sphere with a frosted cylindrical void which houses a 10 watt xenon or 1.5W LED lamp. The cast glass is available in the standard clear and can also be ordered in a rich smoked grey. Canopy mounts to standard octagonal junction box, with electronic transformer fitting inside junction box. Each pendant ships with 10 feet of wire that can be field shortened; recommended minimum height is 12" to the bottom of the sphere. LED model not dimmable. Main photo by Cory Dawson. Instruction Sheet 1 Models: 14.5 Omer ArbelOmer Arbel trained in the late 1990’s as an architect. He apprenticed under Enric, Miralles, John and Patricia Parkau and Peter Busby, among others; and was centrally involved in several successful high profile building projects and international design competitions. In 2003, Arbel founded a multi-disciplinary design studio focused on blurring the boundaries between the fields of architecture, industrial design, and materials research. It has been said of Arbel's practice that it's industrial design works, in both limited edition and mass produced formats, appear to be motivated by larger scale concepts which can only be considered architectural. Conversely, critics have noted that the practices' architectural works appear to be inspired by an obsession with the object, the possibilities implicit in the process of making, and the intrinsic quality of materials. In 2005, Arbel became Bocci's creative director. His conceptual approach, now fueled by an infrastructure for prototyping, fine craft, manufacturing and distribution, has given birth to a collection of conceptually driven lighting, furniture, electrical accessories and objects, which have since gained significant presence and impact within the design community. BocciBocci is a contemporary design and manufacturing house located in Vancouver, Canada. Unlike typical corporate structures, Bocci operates unconventionally as a co-operative community of designers, architects, craftspeople, technicians, agents, governance bodies, testing facilities, raw materials suppliers and fine shops. Their aim is to build a healthy, flexible and stable network united under the goal of creating practical but striking consumer goods of the highest quality. Customer ReviewsExcellent quality and looks great even in the day when not lit. I am happy with this purchase at first I thought this would be too much for the living room. However, I have 14' ceilings and it looks great for the space. The Bocci's themselves are solid glass and are very high in quality. By: Eric, Homeowner (Florida) This light is a fabulous design piece that really makes a statement and looks much better in person above my wet bar than on a website! Don't hesitate to purchase this contemporary masterpiece! Everyone who sees it comments on how fantastic it looks, not too flashy but just enough of a statement. By: Studio Z., Homeowner (madison, wi) beautiful piece. we have it in the hallway and it casts a soft glow. By: Kris, Homeowner (new york, ny) beautiful i have a modern house. i bought the 14.5 bocci to stairs triple-hight ceiling. it looks great. By: Claudia G., Designer (chihuahua, mexico) Beautiful This is a gorgeous fixture. Very heavy and solid. My purchase through Y Lighting was a pleasant one. By: Lam, Designer (San Francisco) What you would expect and more. The design of this light is immaculate. Only a slight glitch in the install. It's a very heavy fixture, and the instructions don't give much direction. It's really up to your electrician to find the right box or perfect ceiling joist by chance. By: Miriam S., Architect (Brookline, Ma) Gorgeous I purchased a 14.5 pendant chandelier for my dining room. I bought it without having seen it in person so I was a bit anxious as my ceiling is sloped at an angle and I wasn't certain it would work. It is simply gorgeous. I agree with the first reviewer that if you need horizontal light this vertical arrangement might require more than one set. For my modern/craftsman interior this was perfect. My dining table is only 6' but this pendant would work easily for a 7' table. Seriously this is stunning. By: Kathy, Homeowner (Menlo Park, CA) Stunning! We had to buy an additional canopy to achieve a slightly wider approach, however this 5 pendant chandelier is no doubt the showpiece of our kitchen. Ambient, modern, interesting and dramatic. The solid glass pendants (quite heavy) are striking and put out full 360 degree light. Not functional if you desire extreme brightness. But otherwise stunning!
