The story of Asano began in 1990, when Shigeru Uchida designed soft-shaped lamps, pleasant to the viewers eye. The lamps are handmade in Japan in the Gifu prefecture, so each fixture is unique and slightly different from one another. Rice paper used for production creates soft folds and diffuses the light, so it provides a relaxing and soothing illumination.
The simplicity of the Asano lamps is characterized by using a wire armature, placed under a soft layer of semi-translucent rice paper. Lamps bases are constructed of bamboo, so each fixture stays in place where its desired. The Asano lamps are perfect for modern bedrooms and childrens rooms, or anywhere decorative and diffused illumination is preferred.
