Located in the Venetian countryside in a town called Borso del Grappa, Bosa was founded in 1976 by Italo Bosa. Drawing on ancient techniques, their ceramic lamps are made by hand and enriched by an exclusive color palette that is mixed in the Bosa Studio. With precision techniques at the foundation of Bosa's production, each object they create is guaranteed to be unique.
Ceaselessly experimenting with the medium, Bosa aims to transform formal and functional conventions into new interpretations, new functions and fantastic worlds. This pioneering spirit is most evident in Bosa's oversized objects and molds and these large scale pieces distinguish Bosa as a leader in the field of designer ceramics around the world.
Each piece in the Bosa collection is made entirely by hand using ancient ceramic making techniques and plaster molds that allow control over the project. Once the design is removed from the mold, it is cleaned and finished by hand. Decorations are hand-painted by master artists with great precision on each piece before firing in the kiln. The pieces will be fired several times over the course of production to vitrify the proprietary glaze and retouch any imperfections for the highest quality possible. Objects decorated with precious metals will be fired once more after vitrification to fuse the metals into the glaze. Each color is mixed and composed exclusively at Bosa's workshop, making the entire color range exclusive to the company.
By making research and innovation a fundamental part of the company, Bosa is able to develop projects that seem impossible because of the difficulty in creating over-sized objects and molds. This determination highlights the joy Italo takes in sharing the design process with young designers who experiment with new languages and have contributed to the establishment of Bosa as an upscale brand. Combining great ceramic tradition with the cosmopolitan spirit of Venice, Bosa creates unexpected and beautiful works of art for the modern home.
