He received his diploma of industrial design, awarded by the FHfG Schwabisch Gmund in 1992. He met Jurgen Laub during school and the two cemented their friendship during an internship in New York. Together, they founded Jehns + Laub in 1994, and the partnership has been the recipient of numerous international design awards.
