I,ve been living with a bare lightbulb in the ceiling fixture for 21 years! No kidding! But the wait was worth it. I bought the medium size lamp and hung it about 14 in. below our 9'5" ceiling. I wasn't sure if it would look right so close to the ceiling, but I took a chance... and it looks positively ethereal!

Not like a lamp, but like something beautiful from another dimension. It floats in space. Everybody loves it!. I chose to use use a 75W incand. bulb rather than the 150W max, and the illumination level is perfect. Happy!

I hung this fixture above my dining room table and it's beautiful. We've gotten a lot of compliments, the eye is drawn to it when you walk in the door. And, it gives off a soft glow even with our compact flourescent light bulb, which don't usually give off the warmest light. It did give off a plastic smell for the first few days, I maybe should have let it "air out" outside before hanging it, but otherwise it's perfect!

This is our second purchase of the Nelson Criss Cross; our first stayed in a home we just sold. It has always been the perfect balance of design and everyday, formal and casual, hip and classic. My only caution for this particular version of the Nelson bubble lamps is that we found it overwhelmed by the room in our new home, even though the room itself is approximately the same size as the previous one. Because of it's smaller size & fewer vertical lines it has a delicate quality & is overpowered by heavy elements. We'll have to order a larger one for our room and find a new spot for the criss cross...

The George Nelson Bubble Lamps are back with a vengeance. They're ubiquitous on teevee, where they're meant to convey that somebody is stylish and hip. They're not something you can pick up at the big box hardware depot.

This is a beautiful pendant - a classic. The inversions on the criss-cross aren't too pronounced, so it still retains that great saucer shape, but with a bit more visual interest than the plain saucer pendant. Great for a room that is a bit more hip, funky mid-century!

We went with the criss cross lamp for the added sculptural effect that the wires provide. 25" in diameter means that the light is the right size to make an statement. I'm not going to tell you about the great service or fast shipping (or the fact the we didn't have to pay taxes!) that we received from ylighting but focus more on the lamp itself. It's beautiful. We have it on a dimmer to tackle the 150W bulb, that way we can dial in the exact mood we want. The lamp is designed in a way that no part of the bulb is directly exposed to you so we can use it over a dinner table without blinding guests. Craftmanship is excellent and the light weights nothing. The material that they use to wrap is more of an hi-end, organic feel.... doesn't look like fabric sprayed with plastic. Quality is very good. It certainly adds the MCM vibe we were after and actually completes the look among the Eames DCW, LCW, Bertoias and Prouves we have around the house. I will totally recommend it. We love it and now we want more!

I have dreamed of owning this lamp for a couple of years now. We recently moved into our first home and we finally had the place for the Crisscross Bubble Lamp. It is beautiful when the light is off, but even more beautiful when it is lit up. We used a compact Fluorescent bulb because we wanted a really white light and it looks fantastic. We just put it up and cannot stop staring at it! Ylighting was very fast and the lamp came in perfect condition. We went to our local DWR and with tax and shipping the lamp was $397, so going through Ylighting was a tremendous savings.

I've owned other George Nelson lamps before, so I knew what I was getting. One thing that I do have to say however, is the product photography casted some shadows which made the product look more defined and attractive. However, in person, it looked a little different. (but still beautiful.)
