From an early age Nick was involved with building things with his father, a local contractor who taught him to appreciate design. In high school Nick began to build things with two friends on the weekends, which was the beginning of the trio that would later found Cerno. Over the years the Laguna Beach friends participated in art festivals, and other creative expressions before going off to college to study their respective disciplines. The experience of architecture school re-calibrated Nick Sheridan as a designer, and equipped him with a modern language and style all his own. After receiving an architecture degree from Cal Poly, and studying abroad in Italy, Nick practiced architecture in southern California, often designing custom furniture and lighting for projects. In 2009, Nick and his two life long friends and collaborators began Cerno, an industrial design and manufacturing company. Cerno specializes in designing and manufacturing modern LED light fixtures.
