YLighting is here to help. Call (866) 428 9289

Includes 6" and 13" downrods for 17" and 24" overall lengths. To calculate overall height when using optional downrods, add 11" to the downrod length. The Cirrus/Short was developed in 1997 as an alternative to the Cirrus fan. The cylindrical body was truncated and the motor housing hung from a more conventional downrod to adapt better to long drops and to give a different look than the Cirrus. The fan (only) is Energy Star certified.

Even though the Cirrus is our smallest fan it uses the most powerful GE style motor. This power with the 14 degree blade pitch will do a great job moving the air.

The Cirrus is all die-cast aluminum and offered in a gloss white and hand brushed aluminum finish. The balanced blades are either injection molded acrylic in an innovative curved shape or standard plywood laminate.

The motor is a high power silicon steel unit with 18 poles, designed for long life and cool running, and is controlled by two capacitors. The Cirrus motor can run at any of three speeds set by the control. The Modern Fan Company offers several switching and control options for both speed and light control. Please see the controls section. All Modern Fan Co. products carry a damp location UL/CUL listing.

The Cirrus is available in several standard lengths using the optional downrods .. The diameter of the body is 6" at the point where the blade enters the rotor.

The fan can accomodate up to 33 degree sloped ceiling; for slopes over 33 degrees but under 45 degrees, use the sloped ceiling adaptor (sold separately).

Optional light kits:
350- 75W PAR16 halogen spot light, provides direct illumination. Adds 2" to height of the fan.
352- 75W A19 incandescent, glass globe diffuses light and provides general illumination. Adds 3" to height of the fan.
353- 26W GU24 low profile compact fluorescent, glass globe diffuses light and provides general illumination. Adds 3" to height of the fan.

Note: Any control ordered with a fan that has been configured with an energy-saving CFL will be supplied in a non-dimming version.

Ron Rezek

Ron Rezek

Ron Rezek designed the world's first contemporary-styled ceiling fan, the Stratos, in 1986. But his list of accomplishments in the design world is long and varied, from lifeguard equipment to contemporary lighting. In 1997, Ron started The Modern Fan Co. in Ashland, Oregon, which produces and sells only contemporary ceiling fans.

His ceiling fans have been widely used in hotels, restaurants, retail and institutional applications, and all types of residential projects.

Ron Rezek's Philosophy:
"I don't think contemporary means a stark white room. I think it means a tasteful alignment of important elements. There are some designers who copy the Modernists who have come before. But I think 'contemporary' is the pursuit of the new." "People assume that all contemporary fixtures are more functional than traditional ones. That is because contemporary fixtures are easier to clean and they seem to be more utilitarian based on their appearance. And because of their simplicity and lack of ornamentation, they also have an alliance with the industrial look. But all of this doesn't necessarily translate into function. The Modern Fan Co.'s fans are designed to be functional and energy efficient. This is part of being contemporary and pushing the edge. Energy efficiency is the wave of the future."

Modern Fan Company

Modern Fan Company. Consciously cool.

Modern Fan represents a new age in ceiling fans — the marrying of efficient function with contemporary design. Designed by Ron Rezek, the Modern Fan Company's models celebrate the modern idiom through mechanical simplification, geometric forms and contemporary finishes. The unique ceiling fan styles of Modern Fan represent a new age in ceiling fans — the marrying of efficient function with contemporary design (you won't find any wicker or flowery fans here!).

Not quiet enough, fan blades warped in 2 months

I unfortunately bought four of these fans. At the highest speed ALL Four make a wobly ticking sound that is very irritating - rendering them unusable at high speeds. When its 100 degrees here the high speed is what i need. Also, the fan blades are wood and they bend and warp....not what i expect after throwing down $1200 on fans!

Both beautiful and functional!

As an interior designer I am not only always looking for beautiful products that function well, I am also looking for company's with good customer service.

I have purchased three Cirrus ceiling fans by Modern Fan Company and I am very pleased with how they look and also with how they cool the spaces where they are installed.

When I unpacked one of the fans I realized the globe for the light was cracked. Ylighting instantly sent me a new globe, no questions asked which is a testament to their good customer service. I will definitely continue buying products from Ylighting!

Wonderful Fan!

We have four Cirrus ceiling fans, three regular and one Hugger and they are excellent. Not only is the design beautiful, these fans are extremely well made, quiet in operation and do a superb job of cooling. As others have noted, the only flaw in the design is the need to take off the bottom housing to get at the switch to reverse the fan's speed. It's an annoyance, yes, but a small price to pay for such a great fan. On our previous fans, we have used the wall-mounted fan/light control, but on the two new fans, I opted for the remote, and I love it. The remote itself is slender and beautifully designed. You just can't go wrong with Modern Fan's Cirrus.

Functional and Beautiful

Chose this fan for my office as the final touch on a major renovation. Moves air well (main space of the office is about 12x10) and is very quiet. It goes without saying that it's a handsome design which counts for a lot given the preponderance of unsightly ceiling fans flooding the market.

Y Lighting's price (with free shipping) was the best I could find in the world, both physical and virtual.

simple, quiet and elegant

I got the Cirrus fan without the light kit with the brushed aluminum finish - installed it on a ceiling pitched about 30 degrees and it instaled beautifully in about 45 minutes. Directions were well written. Wired it for light in case I decide to add one later - the hand held remote is cleanly designed and really simple to use - three speeds on fan - it is super quiet, the quietest I've ever not heard. Actually, the wind created on high speed is the only sound you will hear. The Cirrus is such a beautiful design that accomplishes seemingly disparate aesthetic objectives - industrial simplicity and elegance.

Contemporary design, clean and simple with powerful air movement.

Bought 2 of these fans to use outside, they do a great job cooling the area down and also help keep the mosquitos away. They are quiet and work well without much wobble.

could be better, but looks good

It was hard to screw on the bottom dome. I had to add some oil, and some tape so the felt would pass over the fan when screwing it on. There were also some plastic pieces under the dome that were rattling, taping them up fixed it.

The fan runs smooth and quietly. The tolerances don't look all that high. as the fan turns the distance between the metal seams fluctuates a bit. Something only I will notice, so not worth the effort of returning.

Stylish and well made fan

I love the fan's plain design which is refreshingly different from all those cheesy generic fans on the market. Over all, the fan is very well made.

There are a few minor aspects that could be improved: (i) The canopy is relative small. Thus, it can be a challenge to manage the cables. Also, if you are replacing a fixture that had a larger canopy, you may have to touch up your celling. (ii) The installation of the blades is cumbersome. (iii) The fan speed control (#001) is counter intuitive as setting "1" corresponds to highest whereas setting "4" corresponds to lowest fan speed.

I HAVE NOT USED THIS FAN MODEL BEFORE, AND IT HAS LIVED UP TO MY EXPECTATIONS.

I WAS LOOKING FOR A CONTEMPORARY FAN WITH A LOW VOLTAGE DOWNLIGHT. THIS FAN WORKED OUT PERFECTLY FOR THE APPLICATIONS THAT I NEEDED IT FOR.

I HAD A COUPLE OF SMALL PROBLEMS WITH MY ORDER, AND AN E-MAIL TO CUSTOMER SERVICE RESULTED IN AN IMMEDIATE REPLY. THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED, AND THE ITEMS WERE SHIPPED ASAP.

IT WAS ALSO A PLEASURE DOING BUSINESS WITH Y-LIGHTING. EVERYONE WAS COURTEOUS AND HELPFUL, AND THE PRICING WAS VERY COMPETITIVE.

THANK YOU.

Great Fan

I love my new Cirrus Ceiling Fan. The design is fabulous and it's so wonderful having an overhead light in the room. But, the addition of the remote next to my bed is unbelievable. I purchased a second remote so I can walk in the room and turn on the light.

Working with YLighting was easy, convenient and rewarding.

After consulting with the YLighting staff and placing the order, the fan arrived as expected, well packed and easy to install. The additional longer down rod orderd was quick and easy to replace. The overall quality of the fan is solid and well manufactured.

I plan on ordering another Cirrus for a second location in my home.

Excellent fan - works great, looks great

Clean, modern good looks. I was worried about the 3-blade design, but it circulates an impressive amount of air. I had a professional electrician install it, so I don't know how hard it was to install, but once installed it's very stable, no wobbling. I ordered the halogen spot light kit to preserve the look of the fan. It doesn't add a lot of light to the room, but that's OK because we just wanted extra light right there for reading and playing games. Now we want more of these fans for the rest of the house!

great design at a great price

Really like the modern sleek look. The control options are worth the extra $ to upgrade those. Got the halogen spot - great for accent lighting (don't plan to use for actually lighting the room). Shopped around and this was a great price. Shipping was quick and with no hassles.

These fans are WOW!!! Customer service is so, so.

I am extremely happy with the purchase of these fans! They are solid and have a precise response to the control (fan speed). None of the 3 fans I bought woble or make any strange noices. This is a great product!

I was disappointed with the delivery lead times: The first time I tried to order my fans the response was a 3-4 week lead time (I then cancelled my order.) The second time around the lead time was 2 weeks, which was much better.

Finally, I do have a complaint regarding e-mail communication with customer service: When I cancelled my first order I did get a cancellation acknowledgment but did not get the credit on my account. I sent them several e-mails regarding this situation but never got a response (I had to resolve the issue on the phone.) On my second order I also sent them one e-mail requesting clarification on the product I had ordered and never got a response. Fortunately, when I got my 3 fans they were exactly what I had ordered and I am very happy.

Beautiful and straight-forward design...

I spied this beautiful fan in a designer catalog but found it here @ a better price. Assembly was diffucult, but possible. There is an issue w/ keeping it running evenly & quietly due perhaps to its mobility, but for now, just turning it off overnight & restarting it is the answer. Again, the beauty thing--we are willing to tinker if necessary to keep it on our ceiling!

Works great; looks a little like aircraft.

The fan circulates air sensationally. The light is great. The blades are a little wobbly and more flimsy than I expected, but it's probably safer that way. When we first put them up, all I could think was "uh-oh, they look like B52 bombers," but I have gotten over that in favor of how well they work. So far, anyway.

Stylish & Functional

Thin fan makes your room look like it is in a W hotel! No unnecessary parts and a stylish design. Slow and medium speed are perfect, I never even have to put it on full speed because it is so highly efficient. The hand-held remote (control #3) is perfect: No cables, no switches on the wall! The remote controls a receiver unit inside the fan. I had never installed a ceiling fan in my life and yet had no problems whatsoever assembling and installing the fan. The fan was okay balanced out of the box, but I used the balancing kid (included) to perfect the balance and now the fan is perfectly balanced at low and medium speed and moves just a little, little bit at full speed (you can hardly see it and only feel it when you touch the fan).

This fan is not only energy efficient but also adds to the modern feel of our house!

We love this fan. The only thing I wish that would be different is the wall switch. The wall switch seems backwards... 0 is off, 1 is high and 4 is low. Overall, this is an awesome looking and feeling fan.

Bought 3 different fans and love them all.

I bought a hugger and 2 regular Cirrus fans. I would skip the hugger and use a small rod if your ceiling is low. The fans run well and quietly. I would have given it 5 stars except for the wall switch and reverse switch. The wall switch with the light dimmer is not the prettiest available out there and you have to remove the light cover or lower housing if you reed to reverse direction, but who does that anyway?

Overall a handsome, quiet and efficient fan. YLighting is always a pleasure to deal with.

Must have fan for modern era or contemporary style furniture.

The perfect fan to go in my rooms filled with Florence Knoll Lounge seating, Mies van der Rohe Brno seating, and Harry Bertoia seating. Brushed sleek aluminum style allows it to blend well with modern era furniture. Highly recommended.

Originally saw this fan in a DesignWithinReach showroom for $400. Saved over 22% at YLighting.

Body and rod is solid heavy aluminum construction with course brush with detail that can be seen across the room. Blades are painted wood. Found it easy to install. Must awkwardly unscrew bottom to get at reverse switch, so if you need to switch from up to down a lot, not for you.

Standard 13” down rod seems adequate for 12’ ceiling. High speed fan quickly cools down large 30’ room.

If you must get a light, get the 350 halogen down light to keep the style.

Beautiful

The Cirrus fan from modern fan company is beautiful. It is made of heavy gauge stainless steel that compliments any modern interior. We did have some difficulty with the remote mechanism. However, Ylighting did a great job with sending us a replacement right away. Overall, well worth the money.

Sleek design

I was very pleased with the quick delivery of the fan. This is a great fan with clean lines. Installation was a snap. Colors of wires were standard as with other fans. Standard installation procedure. I did a replacement of another fan and I only had to change a minor bracket (supplied) to hook up the Cirrus fan. My Harbor Breeze remote control that I had for the old fan worked perfectly for the Cirrus.

I am already a big fan of the fan....

Great Contemporary Fan.

This fan performs as well as it looks. I have 20' ceilings in my loft and even with the fan mounted 18' up, the air circulates no problem. The installation was also a breeze. One of the issues I have with the fan is that reversing it has to be performed by removing the cover and manually flipping the switch. Needless to say I have it permanantly set in the 'summer' position. The reason I did not get hte light kit was because the fan was being installed so high up... I like it so much, I am looking at purchasing another one for the mezzanine area.

I love the design, but have a few issues with the product.

Our fan arrived only a couple of weeks ago; we proceeded to install it over the weekend. The fan itself is beautiful and seems to work well, but we ran into some difficulties during installation. There are simple instructions, including pictures; however there are no photos of parts that relate to our specific fan. We were missing a screw, yet had 4 small screws left over. They seem to be for a different model fan. The instructions were also not clear enough when it came to wiring our fan (we bought the remote-and have the halogen light kit). My husband has installed 3 or 4 other fans over the years and has done quite a bit of wiring/rewiring in our home, so he's quite competent. Eventually we got it installed, but had to wait till Monday to call for the extra light cover screw. The woman who answered the phone was quite knowledgeable and sent out the screw immediately. I also mentioned to her that our fan came with a 75 watt halogen bulb; however the light socket and the light cover both had stickers warning against using any bulb over 60 watts. She was surprised and knew nothing of the problem. She did say that she'd look into it immediately.

I still have not been able to install the final screw. With the other two already installed, the third one does not line up with its corresponding hole. I've tried loosening the other 2 screws to no avail. Tonight, my husband and I will try finessing all three screws into the light cover in different combinations.

Overall, we love the fan (and remote). We have the brushed aluminum, but we feel that such a high end fan should have better quality control.

Great fan for short ceilings

We needed a fan for a modern kids room. The ceiling was only 8' and also they wanted bunkbeds. This fan looks great! Is very quiet, and with the optional light - there is much more light in this room. We also used this in a tv room and it looks very sophisticated, while doing a great job of circulating the air quietly....

Very pleased with the Cirrus Fan

This is my second fan by Modern Fan. The industrial design is so much more interesting than the typical "country home" look so popular in the US. In addition to great design, I'm very pleased with the simple controls and its effective circulation of air.

Love my fans

At the suggestion of my architect, I went to YLighting to check out fans for my residential rennovation project. I did my due dilligence and looked elsewhere, but sure enough, YLighting had everything I wanted and at the best price. The fans arrived quickly and in excellent shape. Cutting edge industrial flair

I purchased the fan today over the phone. Blare was the gentleman that assisted me with the sale.

Not only did he know the product inside and out, he was instrumental in choosing the correct lighting option.

I am doing a renovation on my Loft and without receiving this fan yet I just know that it will make this space so cool!!

Can't wait to put it up.

thanks

we ordered the fan with the maple blades. up close the blades were not very nice looking. they looked sort of cheap. fortunately the fan is very high up and the blades look great from a distance. in retrospect i think we should have gone with aluminum blades.

Overall a nice fan, but some surprises with installation.

This was the most expensive fan I put in my apartment after remodeling (of 4 total). It was one of the few Energy Star ceiling fans with a 36-inch diameter option to choose from. It is a well-built, heavy fan that looks very nice. My contractor commented on it, agreeing that it was attractive and well-made.

However, for the price, I do think there are some design issues that are cumbersome. The fan includes a small screwdriver to remove the housing and change the light. One must also remove the housing to reverse the direction of the fan as well. The other fans I purchased can be reversed using their remote controls.

Also, I chose the wall-mounted remote for this fan as I had a single circuit on which to run it. It was the most expensive choice in controls. Looking at the website, it appears that this remote can be removed from the housing. When I think "remote control", I think of a free-standing unit which can be held in one's hand. This unit does not come out of the housing in the wall.

Lastly, I chose an incandescent fixture, assuming that I could simply install a CFL bulb. The wall-mounted "remote", however, operates the light with a dimmer. I haven't tested whether a CFL would work, but I think it might not. I chose energy efficient fixtures throughout my house, so I'm disappointed that I might be stuck using an incandescent with this one.

I'm an average homeowner with not a lot of knowledge in the electrical trade. If you are a homeowner attempting to make an on-line purchase, you may want to check with your electrician that you're getting what you expect.

Cirrus short ceiling fan is the coolest fan ever!

Simplicity at its best. This 3-bladed aluminum fan is perfectly and solidly crafted. With the (optional) 4 speed adjustable control set to the highest revolution, this fan moves so much air it feels like it might take flight -- without a hint of a wobble or noise. I couldn't be happier.

Customer Questions

Q:  Can multiple fans be operated from one remote control?

A:  For the Modern Fans- as long the fans are fan only and do not include light kits, multiple fans can be operated from one remote. Additional receivers will need to be ordered for each additional fan.
