Design by David Trubridge.
Made in New Zealand, by David Trubridge Design.

A new world mix of old world skills and craftsmanship, sustainability of materials and purity combined with some high-tech genius. Using timber from sustainably managed plantations, all pieces are designed to use the minimum amount of material for the maximum amount of effect.

Coral is made from bamboo plywood with a natural finish. Ships flat packed with excellent instructions for self-assembly. The kitset packaging helps minimize impact on the environment. Available in five sizes, all ship with 6 feet of wire and a canopy (not UL Listed). For projects requiring UL Listed fixtures, a UL listed cordset and canopy set is available - sold separately.

This film made by Davide Calafa for David Trubridge will assist you in assembling your Coral or Floral lightshade. We have designed making a Coral to be a fun and easy job, but a little help goes a long way. We and the earth appreciate you taking the time to assemble this kitset, because flat pack shipping minimizes the effect on the environment.

David Trubridge

David Trubridge is a visionary. Unlike most of us he can translate those visions into something functional

David's sculptural wooden furniture and lighting is a new world mix of old world skills and craftmanship, sustainability of materials and purity combined with some high-tech genius. All of David's pieces are immediately evident in their purpose, but within the seeming economy of material and fluid shapes resides their true functionality.

David's Lamps combine repeat patterned CNC cut plywood with a hint of Escher to produce a geometrically pleasing form, both pure in design and practical in purpose.

Cool idea, but not so user-friendly

In addition to its unique and attractive design, I love the idea behind this fixture: flat pack = minimal eco impact. However, despite my engineering mind, I couldn't assemble the fixture. After two hours of fiddling, I discovered a misalignment that had a domino effect. I am trying to take the whole thing apart to start over, but once assembled, this is not easy to do (the wood pieces break and splinter easily, and only two spares are included). Perhaps distributors should offer an "expert assembly" service for an additional fee!

Nice Light with Some bad Instructions

I put the fixture together with ease although the instructions are a bit confusing. The instructions are incorrect in their specification of the bulb. An American Candelabra does not fit the socket. You must purchase as converter that reduces the size of the socket. Once the converter is installed many bulbs will fit.

In our situation the single fixture looks a bit strange. I am going to purchase another one and hang it from a different outlet. I think the two will bring my ceiling together.

The grouping of 6 pendants is impressive.

This clubhouse space was a relatively flat room with everything at pretty much the same height off the floor. We varied the hanging heights of the six pendants and the room is now rich with depth, dimension and texture. Love them, except the assembly part which is difficult at first until you get the hang of it.

This is a wow fixture, I purchased the 31" for a staircase entry and it's a big presence in a contemporary home, but it looks amazing

Comes in a box like an erector set, but went together easily. It's dramatic and perfect in our newly renovated contemporary home.

The Coral Pendant certainly is an eye catcher and gives our son's bedroom a certain "wow" factor

I would not buy this product again, however, as the price does not justify a rather time consuming and intricate assembly. Moreover, the light fixture requires a European bulb which we cannot find in NYC (!) at the required voltage.

Beautiful and fairly easy to put together.

We're very happy with this lamp -- the shade came out beautifully. The first couple steps of the assembly took a little while to figure out, but once we got the hang of it, it went quickly. (The whole thing took less than an hour.) We got the UL listed lighting kit and haven't had any trouble fitting the bulb into it. We're very happy with this lamp and can't wait to see it in action in our bedroom.

The organic quality of this fixture is a perfect selection for our Mid-Century mountain home.

The fixture's appearance changes from day to evening. The lamp illuminates the interior side of the fixture at night to create an impressive pattern and glow. It reminds us of the Petoskey stones that we collect along the shore of Lake Michigan. And it works perfectly with the organic theme of our mountain house. We plan to purchase two smaller versions of this fixture for our house.

I love this lamp because it's a modern yet warm accent to the overall look of the room.

I love this light.

The light is beautiful. It is easy to put together. However, it is a European design, and the specified bulb is not shipped with the product and is not available in the U.S. Y-lighting did not know about this or help me find one.

Like a 3-D puzzle

A little tricky to assemble, but totally worth it. Looks great and casts cool shadows on the walls with a clear bulb.

The statement piece of the room.

Beautiful as a sculpture, and even more magnificent when illuminated and the shadows are revealed. Make sure you have a bit of patience to put it together - the video referenced in the instructions was very helpful. We used this fixture in a bedroom, but it would also look fantastic in a high ceiling hallway.
