This is a silent fan, even on top speed. The light is not as bright as I would like, but it is okay. Be aware that this is a larger looking fan because of the angle of the blades.

Although I live in Hawaii where the decorative themes of most homes consists of traditional polynesian where pineapples are the king, I have always had a contemporary taste for furniture and design. As I just recently purchased this home, I am trying to add my own desin personality to it. So I began a search to replace the two traditional ceiling fans with new contemporary fans.

It did not take long browsing the TLighting online catalog for me to settle in on the Torto Fans. It has a great contemporay design, includes a nice touch of lighting and comes in a great "Metro Grey" finish which belnds nicely with any color scheme in the room where you place it.

The only drawbacks I can see from purchasing these fans are:

1) The price. They are far more expensive than the majority of fans out there, however I guess there is a premium one would pay for good design.

2) The speed of rotation of the fan blades. Even at high speed, these fans do not rotate very fast and consequently they do not circulate a lot of air. The manual suggests getting a longer extension rod, however I prefer not have my fans sitting 1 foot or more below the ceiling. If you are sitting directly under the fan you will feel some breeze, otherwise from a functional standpoint, these fans are not very good. If only one of my two fans operated this way, I would have had my electrician check the speed capacitor of the unit, however both of my brand new fans perform very slowly which leads me to believe it is the way they have been manufactured.

These fans are a perfect example of Form without Function. They are aesthetically pleasing with a great contemporary flair, however they perform poorly when it comes to air circulation.
