He exhibited work at the Venice Biennale, as well as other exhibitions and galleries in the 1970s and then turned to design and received a degree in architecture in 1979. Like Vico Magistretti and many other designers in Italy, Franzolini has been active across the spectrum of creative fields from fine art to architecture to the various arts of the craftsman. He uses a variety of materials – wood, metal and all the varieties of plastic – with confidence on both the large and small scale. Franzolini's work epitomizes the integrity, the technical innovation and the ingenious forms for which Italian design has long been admired. In addition to his pictorial research, he spreads his commitment between architecture and industrial design fields and over the years he has been collaborating with some of the most prestigious companies in the furniture industry such as Cappellini, Foscarini, Knoll International, Moroso, Pallucco. FoscariniThe Foscarini collection brings together objects that express strong ideas with special character of their own. Ideas are transformed into a tangible reality thanks to the contribution of leading personalities from the world of design. Foscarini lights up their creativity and guides their proposals. The cornerstone of Foscarini is research into forms and materials. Established in 1981 in Venice. Foscarini started out by exploring the opportunities offered by Murano glass. Over the years, the range of materials used has expanded to include glass, polyethylene, wood and aluminum, as well as patented materials such as an exclusive textured glass and Kevlar ® or carbon fiber composite. Customer ReviewsThis was a very nice product we sold this fixture to one of our clients. as far as we know the client is very happy with the fixture. I do not know if it was installed yet but the client does have it. At this time we have no issues. By: Lighting D., Homeowner (staten island, ny US) Wonderful in the right space. The light is unique, and in the right spot can work well. Setup wasn't too bad, maybe an hour. I would give it 5 stars except the light isn't suitable for a lower ceiling, < 10 ft. The bulb is visible from a distance and distracts from the blades below. By: Porter Y., Architect Better off than on This light looks much better off than on. We have it in white in our dining room--it was chosen as a statement light that would not hang in front of picture windows--and the light it produces leaves a lot to be desired. First, the bottom slad in the design stays dark while the other slats glow, which gives it an odd look. Second, it produces a very harsh, almost blue, light given the material of the slats. It improved quite a bit with a dimmer, but still not ideal for the setting. Overall, I think this is proably a lot cooler on a wall for low level light than as a main ceiling light in a room. By: Droppedrod, (Seattle) This lamp is modern and very functional. When pepole come to us they really like it. It is great design for young people, and t is not so expensive. By: ze, Homeowner (Karlovac, Croatia, Europe) not what I expected It should be called the Small Bang. It looks bigger in the picture but even at 31" it looks small. Also people who see it think it was not expensive. Not what expected By: Jeff, Homeowner (Miami Beach) Beautifully Designed, Looks Great! We love our Big Bang light. We have it in our bedroom and it really makes a statement! The directions were clear and it was pretty easy to assemble as well. The only negative is that you need to take off the entire big bang part to change the light bulb and it is a bit complicated and time consuming. Overall this is a really nice looking and very functional light. By: Jose B., Homeowner (Boston, MA) Its an exceptional light, one of those hard to find However it requires professional installation, which even in NYC can be challenging. Remember this design duo - we will hear more about them! By: N.I.K., (New York) Not just a light..a sculpture, conversation piece and just breathtaking This is realy a one of a kind light. Not the kind of piece you would see everyday in peoples homes. Its a great conversation pice, adds a lot of sculptural value to any setting and just adds an awesome glow to the wall. When you walk into the room your eyes go straight to this piece. Somewhat expensive but certainly worth every penny. By: Arun G., (horseheads ny) Free Shipping. Price Guarantee. Easy Returns.
