Patricia Urquiola

Born in Oviedo, a town of Northern Spain, Patricia Urquiola studied first in Madrid and then in Milan where in 1989 she graduated from the Milan Polytechnic with her thesis supervised by the internationally renowned designer and architect Achille Castiglioni. Even though from a sociocultural point of view she is very attached to the Spanish tradition, the studies she got involved with influenced her to such an extent that she became of the most important figures of modern Italian design.

From 1990 to 1992 she taught in the role of assistant professor at the Milan Polytechnic, and at the Ensci (Ecole nationale supérieure de création industrielle) in Paris, France. During that period she also started a partnership with the Italian design company Maddalena De Padova where she met another internationally renowned designer, Vico Magistretti, with whom she designed the chair Flower, the sofa Loom, and the horizontal chair Chaise Longue. Like Achille Castiglioni, Vico Mgistretti noticed her talent and advised her to aspire to achieve the highest professional standards at a worldwide level.

From 1993 to 1996 she worked in a design workshop that she had initiated with other designers where she was involved in architectural planning of buildings, interior design, and exhibition design. In 1998 she started partnership with the firm Moroso and created elegant upholstered pieces of furniture that people found irresistible.

Patricia Urquiola while working in harmony with the highest academic standards, also takes into consideration the impact that her products have on the vast public. She focuses on the design of exchangeable units without using modular elements, and successfully creates environments designed to encourage positive feelings and company.

From 1996 she is a coordinator of the design group of the company Lissoni Associati and articulates her professional activity around countless work partnerships with design and architecture companies of worldwide importance like her teachers Achille Castiglioni and Vico Magistretti had wished.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful fixture but very heavy. The light fixture is stunning. It is easy to install but it takes about 2 hours to clean then install the acrylic balls after installing the light fixture. Once it is all installed it is very heavy so make sure that the electrical box is VERY well anchored in the ceiling studs. The light bulb is quite expensive and is not included in the shipment. Overall very happy with the purchase but it did take a very long time to get a shipping quote for Canada. Free shipping does not apply for Canada and fixture shipped 2 weeks after my paypal payment went through. Duty, taxes and brokerage fee for UPS were shockingly high (480$) but the total ended up being about the same as any other dealer online or in stores.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely stunning I received the Caboche Grande Chandelier for the entry of the 112 year old home we are renovating. My architect and I have worked to blend contemporary elements and design into my home. This chandelier is perfect. The assembly is time consuming but it was worth it. I have ordered two more of the medium Caboche Chandeliers and 1 small to carry these throughout the stairwell and landing. I have been very happy with all of my purchases from YLighting

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely beautiful product!!! When we first took the chandelier out of the box, it was a little intimidating. We then started looking at the pieces and once my electrician hung the chandelier, it was a piece of cake. Takes around an hour to get all the beautiful jewels on. I can't believe how beautiful it is. We ordered it in the amber color and am so happy that we did!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous! This fixture is absolutely stunning, and makes a wonderful statement piece in my dining room. It truly is beautiful and works just as well in my traditional/contemporary room as it does in a more modern space. After it was installed, I had a couple of friends come over to help assemble. This made the process much faster!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful. Exactly as seen on website. Harder to assemble than I thought but well worth the effort. The light is beautiful and exactly what I was looking for.

Hi, I have recently bought a caboche grande sospensione with the 78-inch cables. Now I'm moving to a bigger house and need to replace them for the 200-inch cables. Do you sell the cables as spare parts? Thanks in advance.

Asked by: Andre
So glad this light has worked out so far! Certainly, this is something our parts department would be happy to take care of for you. Send a quick email to parts@ylighting.com with your name, best contact information, and the part you are hoping to replace. Make sure to reference the original fixture as well, so that the process goes a bit faster. From there, our parts team will create a custom invoice for you and reach out to the manufacturer Forcarini directly for pricing and availability for the 200" cable and socket set. You can call in payment at a later time. We look forward to your email, and thanks for contacting us! Parin YLighting Customer Service
