Jozeph Forakis

Jozeph Forakis is an artist and designer of Greek origin. After attaining his Masters Degree at the Domus Academy in Milan, he worked on various projects and studies to 'merge design and economics' to help create more affordable design. One of his biggest successes was the admission of his HAVANA lighting range to New York City's coveted MOMA Design Collection in 1998.

Stylish, simple, elegant and effective.

Provides a neutral looking source of light for the art in the room, and yet is a form of sculptural art itself.

I do wish to point out a bit of false advertising, though. The photo illustrations were PhotoShop processed to make it look as though the tall shape glowed almost uniformly from top to bottom. That is impossible with a single light bulb in the middle. Fortunately we anticipated the difference and were not disappointed when we saw the bright spot in the middle.

This is in the manufacturer's literature too, so the retailer is innocent of taking liberties with the laws of physics. However, there may be room for a product which by good engineering actually DOES provide a uniform glow from top to bottom.
