Jozeph Forakis is an artist and designer of Greek origin. After attaining his Masters Degree at the Domus Academy in Milan, he worked on various projects and studies to 'merge design and economics' to help create more affordable design. One of his biggest successes was the admission of his HAVANA lighting range to New York City's coveted MOMA Design Collection in 1998.
The Foscarini collection brings together objects that express strong ideas with special character of their own. Ideas are transformed into a tangible reality thanks to the contribution of leading personalities from the world of design. Foscarini lights up their creativity and guides their proposals.
The cornerstone of Foscarini is research into forms and materials. Established in 1981 in Venice. Foscarini started out by exploring the opportunities offered by Murano glass. Over the years, the range of materials used has expanded to include glass, polyethylene, wood and aluminum, as well as patented materials such as an exclusive textured glass and Kevlar ® or carbon fiber composite.
Product that I received was not the quality I would have expected, especially for the cost I paid for the product
Fixture was a flimsy plastic shade and a lamps socket. I'm not sure what could have made the cost nearly so high. I would not buy another fixture from this product line.

The parts are well made. Strong suspension cable, bulb socket, hardware, etc. It is a very simple design and use of materials. It looks great. I have it hanging in my stairwell because one end of the stairwell is two floors in height from the bottom of the stairs to the top of the ceiling. This fixture takes up what was empty and awkward looking space and now it looks like the space was designed to showcase the light. It is very good for filling up empty vertical space and making it interesting. Prior to this I was looking for art to fill up the space, this light filled that need. I used a 100 watt clear glass halogen bulb to get the maximum light out of the fixture. It provides good light, the fixture itself has frosted plastic diffusers which diffuse the light; therefore I recommend clear glass bulbs instead of frosted. I tried to find a better price online and couldn't. Given the simple design and minimal materials I expected it to cost less. Expensive, but glad I got it, love the look.

sculpture that glows!
we used two foscarinni havana pendants (white) hanging from a sloped ceiling about 12 feet and 14 feet height - the 51" tall cigar shaped form engaged the space beautifully and became the focal point of the room. Plenty of bright light when fully illuminated (100W) per light, sexy glow ambiance when dimmed; no distince hot spots (the lamp spot is brighter of course), but well diffused light through the fixture. There should be a sloped canopy otion however, but we made do. I will use these again and would be interested in the clear version but wonder about the light dispersement.
No dissapoointments, only delight from our design group.

The Havana lamp is as beautiful in its simplicity as it is in its usefulness.
I love the proportions of this hanging lamp. It is perfect in the high-ceiling application where it is hanging. I chose the "ice" color option for its cool beauty...but then warmed it from within with a pink (and dimmable) bulb.

The lamp was beautiful! Shipping was fast. Unfortunately it does not fit where I need it to, so I'll have to keep shopping.

Looks fabulous. Great shape! A bit pricey for plastic.
It's the perfect size and shape for our spiral steps. Has a nice glow to it.

Q: What type of bulb does the Havana Pendant Light take? Is 94.5" the maximum length it can hang at?
A: The Havana Suspension uses a 100 watt medium based incandescent lamp. That is the current maximum height. There is a new version, the Havana Mono Pendant Light that has a diffuser that is one solid piece, and it has 15 feet of wire. This one uses a 60 watt incandescent lamp (but with a compact fluorescent lamp you can get more light out of it).
