    Design by Marc Sadler, 2006.

The Twiggy is characterized by a thin, elegant and sophisticated design. Flexibility is the word for Twiggy; flexibility of the material which defines the ample and essential curve of the arm that carries the light source far from the base, in the possibility of adjusting the height of the shade thanks to a system of counterweights, and in the possibility of adjusting the length of the arm with a set of extensions (sold separately).

Twiggy is available in four color choices: red, black, white or yellow. Made from a compound material with a fiberglass base. Bottom diffuser shields direct view of lamps.

    • Up to two optional extension rods can be used (sold separately). One extension rod yields overall heights of 91" - 98"; two extension rods yield overall heights of 102" - 110".
    • Operates with a dimmer switch.

    Material(s): Composite, fiberglass

    Dimensions:

  • Overall: 67"-79"W X 85"-110"H
  • Shade: 18"D X 11.5"H
  • Base: 23.63"W
  • Lamp Type: incandescent

    Bulbs: 3 X 100W 120V A21 medium base (E26) incandescent bulbs (not included)

Finally, a real graceful parabolic arc lamp!

We were deciding between the ARCO and MIRIS lamps but went with Twiggy because it's the only one we found with a smooth real parabolic arc (higher with a more sweeping acute bend and arcs out). This is accomplished through actual flexing of the stem into the parabola rather than pre-fabrication of the arc as in other lamps. This gives a natural sense of balance and lightness to this rather substantial lamp (we have both additional stems installed). The materials composing the stem (carbon fiber composite) makes this structure possible, Absolutely stunning lighting our 60" round dining room table. There's even plenty of walkway behind the chairs!

    Elegant

I have a white one. It has a slight grayish white which I find it very pleasing. It adds so much to my living room without overpowering. I have purchased several lamps last few years, but this is the one I'm most happy with. That says much.

    Gorgeous!

The lamp is beautiful and really "makes" the room. It's quite large, so it has become the centerpiece of the living/dining room. I would recommend the lamp only for rather large and airy (e.g. high ceiling) spaces, as it really needs that space to show off the arc and shape.

We had considered a number of similar options (e.g. Arco), but I really think this one is the best for this type of lamp because the large plate on the floor helps the lamp look more "balanced" rather than contrived.

The height/reach is a little on the short side though. So we are considering getting the extension to see if we'd prefer it to be longer/higher. I think the adjustable length, as well as the 300 W power, makes this lamp more versatile than competing lamps should we ever want to use it in a different space.

The main negative of this lamp is that it is extremely expensive. So depending on your budget, I think it's mainly worth the price if it's going to command attention in a large room.

    Very Cool!

This is a very contemporary and surprisingly substantial lamp. It has a terrific "presence" in our room and casts a light that is warm yet sufficient for tasks and reading. The shade color is a bit more grey than white in the daylight, but not a real problem. This is a very cool lamp for a large space.

    Fabulous~~~~~~~~~~

I and my husband were debating for weeks over Alco lamps vs Twiggy and we finally decided to get Twiggy due to its flexibility. We also have extension stems which is really simple to install. One of the best thing about this lamp is that we can adjust the curvature with weights. Also with 3 150 watt bulbs, it is bright enough to light the whole dining area. The Twiggy lamp is over our dining table and it really transformed the whole dining space.

The Twiggy Floor lamp makes a dramatic addition to a room.

Elegant arc design. It was easy to assemble. 20 minutes, no tools. Extremely well made, high quality materials.

    Customer service is responsive

The Twiggy lamp is elegant and well designed. Surprisingly the shade and the arc are made of plastic, but if they were not the additional weight would probably necessitate a more substantial base. The base is a flat metal plate that moves easily once the lamp is assembled.

When the packages arrived several components were missing and YLighting customer service resolved the issue in reasonable amount of time. Their response was commendable.

    Love it- very dramatic statement

I wanted to get this lamp in white but my partner was pretty adamant about yellow, so I conceded. It is actually a very nice color, not too overpowering (more like a curry/mustard color), but still very dramatic against our white walls. The stems are surprisingly flexible - I guess that is because of the composite material - and the shade comes with five counterweight disks that you can add one at a time to the top of the shade to incrementally lower it (I didn't realize that when we bought it, but it is nice to be able to change the height at will). The base is hefty, but very flat (think heavy steel plate).

    Remodel Housings

In contrast to new construction housings, remodeling housings are appropriate when you have limited or no access to the space above a new fixture, such as in an apartment or a home without crawl spaces or attics above.

    New Construction Housings

In contrast to remodeling housings, new construction housings are bulkier and need to be installed between joist beams or onto hangar bars and thus you need full access to the space above the fixture. This style is best used if you are building in a new space, gutting a room, or have an attic above or pop out ceiling, etc.

    Non-IC Rated

Non-IC stands for: non insulation contact. Thus, non-IC-rated housings must be kept at least 3 inches away from any insulation.

    IC Rated

IC stands for: insulation contact. Thus, IC-rated housings can come in direct contact with thermal insulation.

    MR16 Halogen Bulb

MR 16 is a standard format for halogen multifaceted reflector light bulbs. MR16 lamps are regularly used in place of standard incandescent light bulbs as they harness and shoot light, resulting in less light loss than a traditional bulb. These are best used when you want focused light such as in a pendant over a countertop or an accent light on a painting.
