After completing a scientific technical education in chemistry, Lievore went on to work for an oil company. He later completed his military service and sought to further his love for design, so he began architecture at the Buenos Aires Faculty of Architecture. In 1977, he officially settled in Barcelona where he founded a studio in the Berenguer el Gran Square with colleague Norberto Chaves, and afterwards Daniel Perrando, Oriol Pibernat, and Jorge Pensi. Later, in 1984, he started his very own Alberto Lievore & Associates firm, which allowed him to learn and grow more as a designer. In 1991, he changed the name of his firm to Lievore Altherr Molina, as other designers Jeanette Altherr and Manel Molina joined the lineup. He still continues his incredible work with his firm, attaining worldwide acceptance and notability with his partners for their bold furniture designs. MetalarteMetalarte is a company that has defined its personality through the co-existence of the new and the traditional. Applying Yin and Yang to production has resulted in the possibility of maintaining a catalogue that balances the future and the past, a tradition that began in a workshop at Madrazo Street in Barcelona. Metalarte, S.A., Barcelona, Spain is a manufacturer of traditional and avant-garde lighting whose origins date back to 1932. The world-renowned global company began within the warmth of a simple metalworking shop where its founder, Antonio Riera felt a unique passion for bright, appropriate lighting — something most unusual in a country that used 125 volts until the beginning of the 1960s. Today Metalarte combines a pride about its pioneer past and its new state-of-the-art factory and manufacturing abilities. They have chosen to work with such established and esteemed professional designers as Eric Franch, the Devessa Brothers, Josep Aregall, Alberto Lievore, Manuel Molina, Richard Ferrer and Manuel Molina. To further the concept that the future is today, in 2003 Metalarte created its advanced laboratory, Metalab, that has commissioned such new designers as Jamie Hayón, Raymond Úbedy and Otto Candalda, Hector Seranno, Jordi Llopis, Emil Padros and Ana Mir.
