The halogen light is pleasing and the shade works well to direct the light where needed. The pole is a bit flimsy and could easily become bent if not careful. The dimmer is plugged into the wire strung through the lamp and easily loosens. Why is it not hardwired?
The dimmer looks like it is meant to be a foot switch, but it takes two hands to hold the dimmer on the floor and move the slide. When the pole is fully extended the dimmer is tight up against the side of the pole. When the light is lowered, the dimmer is somewhere on the floor. I lift the dimmer and hang it over the pole to keep it steady. Then I can easily grasp it with one hand and adjust the light as needed. I would suggest that is where the dimmer ought to be located when assembled.
The service was well below average. I had to contact Y Lighting to get any updates at all on the lamp. None were offered as a matter of service and consideration to the customer. While the lamp has all of the features I was looking for, the overall impression is that the supplier is disorganized and novice.
