Mark McKenna is an artist, designer and engineer. Raised on a farm in Illinois, he attended the University of Illinois where he studied industrial design. His education brought him to Europe to study at the University of Northumbria in England and at the Ingo Maurer Studio in Germany. Upon finishing his bachelor's degree McKenna was awarded a US patent for his senior thesis project, a machine for the automatic production of sandbags to be used in flood control. Mark followed his passion for design and engineering to Henry Dreyfuss Associates, where he helped design John Deere equipment. He was subsequently hired to open the Ingo Maurer showroom in New York City. In 2002, Mark founded mmckenna LLC.
