I used 4 optional suspension rods and droppred two separate tracks down from the ceiling 18". The straight line connector tied them together as well as if the tracks were fastened to the ceiling. I also used a live end connecter for the power feed down through an outside suspension rod ( hollow ) and the connection was solid and clean. The straight line connectors work well to connect the tracks, but they are a bit too flexible when the tracks are installed with the suspension kits. In order to make the joint truly stable, especially with heavier fixtures, you need to use two suspension rods, one on each side of the connector. If the connector were stiffer and the toungue inserted further into the track, one rod would do the job. The suspension kits are surprisingly expensive and doubling up on them in large scale installations adds considerable cost to the project. By: Darryl E., Designer what a great help the connector was.
