Made in Germany, by Ingo Maurer.
Johnny B. Good pendant light is another one of Ingo Maurer's fixtures that illustrates his admiration for the incandescent lamp. The pendant celebrates the clean lines and adds very little to detract from the form. Johnny B. Good has a glass encased socket and white teflon ring to act as the diffuser.
Pendant light provides direct and ambient illumination. The white ring helps diffuse and direct the light. These pendants are meant to be hung at eye level, so to prevent any glare. The lamps are made exclusively for Ingo Maurer and are provided with the fixture. Using a dimmer with these fixtures is recommended. The pendant height is adjusted by making the cable loop smaller or larger, these can be used on ceiling heights up to 18 feet. Includes a 5.51" canopy.
Note This is Version 2; Version 1 with variable dimmer is not available for use in North America.

Ingo Maurer, the son of a fisherman, was born May 12, 1932 on the island Reichenau in Lake of Constance, Germany. He trained as a typo-grapher in Germany and Switzerland and later went on to study graphic design (1954 to 1958). In 1960 Maurer left Germany for the United States, where he worked in New York and San Francisco as a freelance graphic designer. During this time he developed a genuine love for New York City and the feeling that "All things were possible" there. In 1963, Maurer moved back to Germany and founded Design M where he was able to develop and manufacture lamps after his own designs. One of his first designs, Bulb (1966), was inspired after a night out and later looking at a bare-bulb fixture in the ceiling. The Edison bulb has a special quality, its shape was simple yet most beautiful. The Bulb was the first of many homages to the Edison bulb, an object that Ingo Maurer holds in high regard. Bulb, along with many of his works, is included in the design collection of the Museum of Modern Art. Many of his designs are based on the fascination of banal things, ordinary objects that are seen every day and no longer noticed. He takes them out of their context and celebrates them.
Ingo Maurer has been designing and creating award-winnning lighting works for over forty years. His love of the incandescent lamp has not stopped him from trying all the new lighting technologies. His lighting toolbox is filled with high-tech and low-tech, exotic and ordinary things, with useful and useless techniques, with lighting punch and gentle shimmer, with Aah and Argh.... All resulting in works of art that are also fully functional and well-engineered lighting pieces.See other lights/products from Ingo Maurer
Ingo Maurer and Team have been designing and manufacturing lighting for over 40 years. Over 60 individuals work together to create products integrating artistic expression with functional elegance. Working in a Munich factory, everything they make is made with the love of detail, master craftsmanship and input from a lot of human hands.
Their passion to create is as strong as their desire to share an enthusiasm for light, and quality lighting objects. They derive immense satisfaction when they are able to build emotional connections between the aesthetic and functional potential of a lamp. They love what they do everyday, and recognize how fortunate they are their creations are loved.
