Jan des Bouvrie was born in 1942 in Naarden, the Neterlands. After completing his training at the "Rietueld Academy", he went to his parent's furniture shop, where he soon developed his own ideas about interior decorating and furniture design.
Jan des Bouvrie's vision of contemporary design is one of a total concept, a complete interior in which he designs all components to express. Achieving acclaim for these visions, he has been awarded teh Cultural Prize in 1974, the STyle Prize in 1990, the silver award at the 25th "Binnenhuis Manifestatie" in Rotterdam in 1991, the award for the Best Stand Design during the World Travel Market in London in 2003, the award for the Best Stand Design during the Matka fair in Finland in 2004.
