In 1997, Jamie Young Jeter and David Jeter, both artists with a passion for travel, took a day trip to Mexico. There, they filled their car trunk with interesting garden pots they discovered in a roadside shop. When they returned to Los Angeles, they promptly sold the entire haul to a local florist. Recognizing an underserved market, they began to design and produce their own line of concrete flower pots, only to discover that the rustic, hand-crafted quality of the pieces would make unique bases for lamps. With this conversion, the Jamie Young Company was born. David designed the bases and Jamie designed the shades. Their love of travel and desire to understand other cultures took them all over the world discovering ancient art forms, incredible textiles, and an overwhelming desire to create wonderful eclectic designs.
