Having designed furniture, hotels, mega-yachts, lighting and many others throughout his career, Starck has become a fixture in modern design. Not only does Starck create beautifully unconventional designs, he creates a finished product whose main purpose is to function well before anything else. Philippe Starck has obtained many important acknowledgements, including the Grand Prix National de la Création industrielle and the Honor Award of the American Institute of Architects. He earned a diploma of design and interior design from "La Llotja" Art School in Barcelona, 1996. In 2001 Eugeni Quitllet met Philippe Starck in Formentera and started a strong collaboration.
