Philippe Starck

Born in Paris in 1949, Philippe Starck is one of the most original designers and architects of the last three decades. Having designed furniture, hotels, mega-yachts, lighting and many others throughout his career, Starck has become a fixture in modern design. Not only does Starck create beautifully unconventional designs, he creates a finished product whose main purpose is to function well before anything else.

In Starck's own words, "subversive, ethical, ecological, political, humorous... this is how I see my duty as a designer."
