Anna Castelli Ferrieri

Born in Milan on Aug. 6, 1918, Anna Castelli Ferrieri was one of the first women to graduate from the prestigious Milan Polytechnic Institute, in 1943, with an architecture degree. In 1949, she and her husband, Giulio Castelli, founded Kartell, which became a leading furniture company known for high-quality plastic designs. With the success of Kartell, Ms. Castelli Ferrieri and her husband helped fuel the explosion of Italian modern design in the 60's, 70's and 80's. In 1976, she became the art director of Kartell and continued to experiment with different kinds of plastic. She passed away in 2006 at 87 years old due to complications from lung disease at her home in Milan. She is best known for her "Componobili," stackable round plastic containers, which continue to be popular to this day.

Design classic, as good as plastic gets!

I've long admired Kartell's Componibili line but the price (the Italian great design surchage) was always a bit offputting.

I finally pulled the trigger when I found a couple of the modular components on sale at YLighting because they were open box.

I knew I would love my Componibili as I had researched them before purchasing and they don't disappoint. I plan on using them as endtables in my bedroom.

What did surprise me was how helpful and efficient (and genuinely nice) the YLighting customer service person I spoke to was.

The perfect solution for supplies for guest restrooms in our office.

We needed something to store extra paper products in the three guest restrooms in our offices. We looked everywhere for a solution that didn't look like it belonged in an apartment. It also had to be easy to restock for the cleaning crew -- the removable top does the trick. The color choices are terrific. In short, this is the perfect solution.
