Design by Ferruccio Laviani, 2005. Made in Italy by Kartell.
The revisiting of a classic: the baroque table lamp. The revolutionary feature of this lamp is that it is made entirely of transparent or batch-dyed polycarbonate. On the one hand, it is classical, rich and traditional, and on the other, it is innovative, transparent and ironic.
The baroque style base is composed of three decorated layers that interconnect, and the large lampshade is make with a plissé effect, to create a myriad play of reflections once the lamp is turned on.
Thanks to a special coupling system on the lampshade, it can be assembled at three different heights: 26.75", 28.75", 30.75". The lamp can be used as a table, desk or floor light and features a touch-sensitive dimmer.

Bourgie's modern meets baroque vibe lights up the room.
Black bourgie really sets the mood. Lamp includes a dimmer, which creates perfect lighting for a relaxing evening at home or festive party. Pair of table lamps will work splendidly for our upcoming Halloween Frightfest.

BOURGIE MAKES A STATEMENT
Now part of our revamped dining room decor, Bourgie has taken center stage on our new sideboard. It's altogether eye catching and functional, unique and practical. We are so glad we decided to splurge on Bourgie! It makes just the statement we were after!

Elegant, but tasteful.
A great lamp--goes with almost any style of decor. The risers are a bit tricky to snap in place, but the piece is lightweight and a good value.

An understated yet interesting lamp
The lamp is so understated yet it really makes an awesome impression when it's turned on. It fit perfectly in our semi-modern/restored old house space and it's one of those items that -- regardless of it being plastic -- just works.
YLighting delivered it quickly.

Spectacular! A stunning piece of modern design with beautiful light at a fair price.
I can't say enough about this great lamp. If you're even thinking about it, go for it - I have absolutely no reservations. It's so much more beautiful in person than in the pictures - throws a beautiful flocked irredescent light pattern across the wall and the plastic shimmers because of its facets. Can't comment on the black, sliver, or gold models - I'd stick with the clear. In a world of so many $1000+ mediocre design floor lamps, this $300 one stands out as an incredible bargain.

A lovely lamp that makes a statement.
I was a little concerned to buy a "plastic" lamp, quite frankly, but found this Kartell lamp surprising solid, nicely detailed, and well made. It has a height-adjustable "shade" and gives good light with the bulbs provided. It also looks as funky in real life as it does in the photos. My sole concern is the on-cord dimmer switch that, on my lamp, needs to be replaced. But this issue may be limited to my item. Otherwise, the novel design and good overall construction and performance of the lamp appear to justify the high price.

In contrast to new construction housings, remodeling housings are appropriate when you have limited or no access to the space above a new fixture, such as in an apartment or a home without crawl spaces or attics above.
New Construction Housings
In contrast to remodeling housings, new construction housings are bulkier and need to be installed between joist beams or onto hangar bars and thus you need full access to the space above the fixture. This style is best used if you are building in a new space, gutting a room, or have an attic above or pop out ceiling, etc.
Non-IC Rated
Non-IC stands for: non insulation contact. Thus, non-IC-rated housings must be kept at least 3 inches away from any insulation.
IC Rated
IC stands for: insulation contact. Thus, IC-rated housings can come in direct contact with thermal insulation.
MR16 Halogen Bulb
MR 16 is a standard format for halogen multifaceted reflector light bulbs. MR16 lamps are regularly used in place of standard incandescent light bulbs as they harness and shoot light, resulting in less light loss than a traditional bulb. These are best used when you want focused light such as in a pendant over a countertop or an accent light on a painting.

Wet Location
If the lighting system is exposed to direct impact by water from splashing or dripping, which will make the fixture wet, then the location is a wet location. Your most common wet locations are uncovered outdoor areas.
