Same experience as other reviewers. Within a couple weeks after I installed the Lightrail system, fixtures started to go bad. I contacted the online seller, who quickly sent me two replacement fixtures, no problem. But within months others started to fail, and now I am down to only 2-3 working fixtures after a couple yrs. Continually fiddling with them to get them to work for a while, then they lose contact with the rail again and go out. I have tried to contact the manufacturer, Minka group, but they do not respond to emails. AVOID Kovacs lighting at all cost!!!

Ditto all of the comments made by others recommending to NOT BUY these pieces of junk. Perhaps the worst purchase I have ever made in my life. Nothing but trouble - transformers go bad and fixtures burn out. Even when a light is working, the conector stems are so finicky you can literally spend hours just getting one to work. The only redeeming quality of this system is that the bulbs never seem to burn out. Of course, the fixtures so seldom work, none of the bulbs has probably been lit long enough for it to burn out!

This system should have been recalled years ago and any self-respecting dealer would not carry the Kovacs line of products.

The lightrail worked well for about a year, and now they continually do not work after cleanings due to overheating and melting of the plastic which covers the rail circuits. A cleaning will allow them to work for a few days to a week, and then the plastic needs to be scraped off again. I'm looking into an alternative replacement for these pieces of junk.

When we did major renovations several years ago we purchased two of the light rail fixtures with interchangeable shades. We have one set on the ceiling just beyond the mantel and fireplace and another above my wall of book cabinets about 18 inches out. They are among the first things that people admire coming in to the room.

Bulbs do burn-out with greater frequency than I'd like, but are not difficult to replace, just expensive. We had them installed by the electrician as part of the renovation so that may have helped their longevity and workability. While the installation appeared to be simple enough, I know the hazards inherent in putting new technology in a 120 year old house.

We like them enough to buy them again if needed. The GK system comes with a DC 300 watt rating and 6 35 watt bulbs. Locally, I could not get systems that robust. What we found were 20 watt systems and a less robust transformer of 100-150 watts.

We have not experienced the problems which others have had, and. the lights are about 3 years old

Pendants burn out and are expensive to replace. A real piece of junk. Good luck getting help from GK too. It's a joke. They do not stand behind their product. I guess I know why. Save your money and stay away!

We had this unit installed in our home three years ago, Nothing but trouble. In less than a year, we had pendants, not bulbs, going bad. Our contractor replaced the pendants and left the old ones with me. Within a month, one of the NEW pendants burnt out. Called the folks at GK, but by then the unit was over a year old, so NO HELP, just sorry. Now, the base unit has gone bad. We have ordered a new light fixture for the Kitchen and you can bet it's NOT a GK ANYTHING.

I bought this product from another store on sale a while back. Recently I decided to install it. I looked around to find design and instruction info. I found this site. I was worried that I might have the problems stated in some reviews here. Luckily the installation went fine. I had the lights in use for a week now without any issue. My family likes the look very much.

The design and how it looks in our kitchen is perfect. It's when you want them to actually work is painful. We have spent hundreds of dollars getting our electrician to figure out why the lights constantly burn out & overheat! Admire them at your local lighting store, but don't bring them home. All I do is look at these lightrails and a headache takes over me.

The price is appealing, but look forward to extra bills on electricians. This quadruples the price.

Looks great but poorly designed. The stems burn out and the heat from the buls melt the handle on the stem. I purchased 3 for my office and they have been nothing but trouble. Not to mention that I have spent hundreds of dollars for replacement parts and electrician bills. This Lightrail needs to be trashed and even the supplier where bought it in Lexington, KY agrees. DO NOT BUY THIS.

Installation was a breeze as long as one can handle tools. The product looks fantastic and the extra glass shades for the spotlights are a nice touch and came in handy.

The only think I'd like to see on the website is the ability to purchase additional parts for the GK Lightrail. We would have liked to extend the rail by 1' and I was trying to find parts on the website, but could not see any.
