I needed something for the wall at the top of a narrow, dark stairway to give light in all directions but where you couldn't see the guts of the fixture as you walk up from below. No problem with that, here. It's fairly large but doesn't stick out too far and gives off lots of light thanks to the relatively large fluorescent bulb. I had to drill a small hole in the brackets so I could screw into a slot of the wall box, which wasn't too hard, but that made it not quite as easy to install as I'd hoped. Be sure to note that the shade is not semicircular but more triangular with a pattern of ridges. I'm very happy with it now, it looks sharp. Expensive though - no obvious reason why it would be
