The transformer is easy to install, compact and very reliable. The step down delay is minimal and the brushed nickel look goes very well w/ other fixtures and items in our dining room and kitchen. Highly recommended!!

This was the thrid product of this kind that I installed. This was the easiest because it was thoughtfully designed. The transformer had a cable that attached to the base plate that supported it making it easy to make the elctrical connections.

Our original transformer failed after only 3 months of use. I have read there were problems with the early ones. Love the lights, but I sure hope this one lasts longer than the original.

I purchased this transformer to replace one that had gone bad after about 3 to 4 years of service. It would just turn off on its own after a minute or two of use. From what I understand these transformers have been upgraded and should last longer now.

The original product lacked sufficient insualtion from it's metal container. The replacement has solved this problem by insualting the transformer from said casing.

Back in 2004 I purchased the 5 light kit: LM-100E194G111. My original unit was in PT-Platinum which is like a brushed chrome/silver color. That units transformer burnt out in 2010--so I got 6 years out of the original. My choice was buy whole new unit (this 12V 150W) or transformer. I decided to buy this whole new unit. We'll the new unit is a bit smaller (at least 1/2" all the way around. It also has the transformer glued into the base. I requested the brushed nickel version which has more of a gold tint than my original Platinum. It fits, it works, it does the job with more power than the original. Looks good, but color is slighly off, so is the area around the device. Anyone looking to replace their original unit, like me, should be aware of this. Perhaps consider buying just the transformer and then solder the connections (if you can do that). I do like this lighting system, just wish it weren't so expensive. On the plus side, ylighting seems to have the some of the best pricing around plus free shipping.
