Design by Alberto Meda, Riccardo Sarfatti, Paolo Rizzatto, 1992.
The designers took a second look at ceiling lamps, as neglected as they are widespread, in search of an intelligent, elegant solution. Adopting a sober approach, they opted for a die-cast aluminum frame containing an easily assembled and inspectable diffuser. Modular, impermeable, designed to hold various light sources, the Metropoli system received the Compasso d'Oro award in 1994.
This die-cast aluminum lamp with a diffuser made of prismatic glass or opal polycarbonate (available only for fluorescent version), provides a pleasant continuity of form between the interior and exterior of constructions.

thought I had order the light bulbs as well
By:german b. , Designer
I am using 2 of these in a location I would like to put recessed lights in but can't, so was reluctant to spend this much money but after trying 2 low=priced options I decided to spend the extra. These lights are gorgeous, very industrial- in my space they relate well to the stainless appliances and the metal base of the chairs. I hadn;t considered the metal being so much of a visual factor, but against a white ceiling it is, but in a good way. I was originally looking for something to disappear- these are low profile and clean looking so don't intrude but alsio add something of their own. I went with the oversized version in a small space and am very pleased with the results.Solid, they impressed my electrician.
