Beautiful finish, sturdy handsome task light. Love it, love it.

We love our pair of Luxo L1 task lights. They're our new reading lights on our bedstands. We can position them anywhere we want. After using off-brands, we realized there's a reason you buy the originals. They are so smooth and perfectly balanced.

This is a great-looking classic that works beautifully just about anywhere. I put an energy-saving bulb in, and the amount and quality of light are perfect.

The lamp is used everyday and works great. Not only looks good but it is funuctional also. I would use this product again With no problem or concerns.

I was worried that because this lamp has been so frequently imitated, spending the extra $$$ for the original wouldn't be worth it. Thankfully that wasn't the case. The Luxo L-1 is big, bold and beautiful. Even though it seemed to take forever to get here (more and better communication from Y Lighting would have been helpful), it was ultimately worth the wait.

I love the light - it's a nice piece of design - but it's HUGE! Not a great bedside light...way too tall. And when I bought it the website didn't say that it wasn't in stock. I ended up having to wait weeks for it to arrive. Very annoying. Make sure you check stock availability before you buy.

I love my black Luxo task lamp, which is sitting on the desk on which I'm typing this review and reminds me of the (orange) Luxo knock-offs I grew up with in the 1970s -- only my Luxo is much nicer. Among other things, my Luxo has been painted a soft, gleaming black (not the hard, shiny surfaces of those childhood lamps), and has a heavy solid base (rather than clamps, which are always annoying). My only slight issue was that the finish on the base of my particular lamp was slighted mottled on one side. But since I wanted to use the lamp now, and didn't like the idea of wasting more energy resources by returning it, I just turned the mottled bit toward the wall. (To be honest, I had forgotten about this modest imperfection until I wrote this.) Bottom line: the Luxo is a classic of industrial design, and a perfect union of form and function. It easily merits 5 stars. (And it's also good for my eyesight!)

Beautifully made item in original design. A transition between machine age and mid-century modern. The perfect lamp for a functional office.

The L-1 belongs in the pantheon of iconic product design along with Henry Dreyfuss's Honeywell thermostat and the Emeco aluminum chair: elegant, authentically unselfconscious, beautifully functional. Worth every penny, will not disappoint.

I really like the light, it was a bit bigger than I had oringaly thought, but the classic design looks great. Very easy to use and set up.

The L1 is a classic workhorse. No messing around with this one. It extends well, hinges well and looks great.

It is a fantastic task light for the architect's desk.

I've been looking for a light for my hobby/workshop table. I didn't want a cheap looking lamp. Not only does this lamp look nice, it works nice too. In fact, I think I'm going to get a second one.
Great lamp--classic styling, sturdy, functional & ever since Pixar, Luxo is a hit with kids.

The L-1 task light is really just perfect. I looked at many other "design" lights from famous makers and noe gave me the feeling of confidence in their longevity as did the L-1. Also, the price is fantastic and the available finishes very useful.

This lamp provides it all. It's modern and retro, fits any environment. Works perfectly with CFL bulbs. Great task light, easy to move and sturdy. The table base is super-heavy so it won't fall.

I was looking for a lamp for my desk. I wanted this lamp to be functional, to be a good quality, and to look professional and expensive... I am glad I made this choice. It is everything that I was looking for!

I have an earlier version of this lamp that I purchased 30 years ago. It still works perfectly - well balanced, extremely functional, durable, timeless, classic design. After wasting my money on cheap imitations that were annoying to use and didn't last, I am glad I connected up with Luxo again. Thanks for continuing the tradition of quality and excellence.

This desk lamp is oversized and sturdy. The energy efficient bulb offers adequate task light. It's expensive, but worth it!

The L1 is a classic, and you definitely can't go wrong. Mechanisms are all smooth and accurate, the lamp looks great of course. I bought it with a stand, and actually prefer that look, but ended up using it with the clamp instead just to save some desk space. The bulb that comes with the lamp was a real piece of junk, but that's to be expected and is cheaply/easily replaced.
Really a beautiful desk lamp - recommended highly.

The package arrived less than a week after I placed my order and it weighed 18 pounds! Nearly all of that weight is in the disc-shaped base, smaller than a Frisbee. It took 30 seconds to assemble the base to the fixture, using the enclosed cotter pin.
The light adds beauty to my office even when it is off. It is a very cool piece of engineering, very seamlessly manufactured. I understand why it cost more , my old cheap lamp, from a home improvement store, is chintzy and slightly embarrassing in comparison.
The bulb is as easy to replace as a bulb in any lamp at home. Nothing to remove first...just unscrew the standard sized lamp bulb. It does not get hot.
I am very satisfied with it and have had it for a bit more than a week. I would highly recommend it.

Simple, elegant and sturdy. Vastly better than a cheap desk clamp light from a big-box store. Well worth the investment.

This Luxo adjustable task light fixture is a contemporary classic. Elegant and built true to the original design in every detail. The proportions are correct and the sizing of the components (the springs for instance) ensure that the lamp is stable, flexible and secure in any position. Its more expensive than the countless copies that are on the market, but its well worth the extra cost because it functions perfectly, is good to look at and will last forever. Its beautiful even when its not shining.

THe L1-Task Light is a design classic that works great. They look great on the drafting tables in my architectural office. WIll probably be ordering more soon. WOuld recommend these to anyone.

We bought this to replace a very old Luxo and were seeking a lamp that used a 60W incandescent. We are very happy with this replacement of an old favorite. An elegant, simple, nonhalogen solution. I hope they never stop making this lamp!

I looked at a lot of task lamps before selecting this one. Many are too complicated and too big. Jacobsen's lamp is the perfect size and the spring system is well balanced so that it stays in place where you adjust it.

I bought the L1-Task Light for my work table and I am quite happy with it. I got the white finish which is very nice. The weighted base is sturdy and attractive. The arm is long and easily reaches over the work station on my six foot table. This is a heavier and sturdier and longer lamp than those sold at the office supply chains. I am thinking about purchasing another. My husband wants one.

This is the second L1-Task Light that I have purchased this year. I bought one for my workbench. My husband wanted one when he saw it. He uses his Task Light for reading. It is a sturdy, well-designed and classic lamp. The lamp arm is much longer than the knock-offs sold at office supply chains. It is also very well made.

Great lamp. Great price. Arrived quickly. Very happy with the product and service.

The Luxo L1 is a thoughtfully-designed and solidly-built task lamp. I love its long reach and smooth action. It's there when I need it and moves out of the way easily when I don't. Highly recommended.

The Luxo L1 has exceeded my expectations. Feels very well-made. The Desk Base is quite heavy and stable. Highly recommended.

This lamp is so iconic and no-nonsense. I buy it again and again -- don't be fooled by imitations. There is a huge difference when you compare them to this original.

Having had another reading light by the same manufacturer, which is the best reading light I have had, I bought this task lamp for reading at our kitchen table. It is beautifully made but gives off much less light than the other. It is limited to 25 or 40 watts, an insufficient size to do the trick.

Fits perfectly on our antique drafting table (repurposed now as homework area). Exactly like the one in my mom industrial design studio.
