This is the second L1-Task Light that I have purchased this year. I bought one for my workbench. My husband wanted one when he saw it. He uses his Task Light for reading. It is a sturdy, well-designed and classic lamp. The lamp arm is much longer than the knock-offs sold at office supply chains. It is also very well made.

I bought the L1-Task Light for my work table and I am quite happy with it. I got the white finish which is very nice. The weighted base is sturdy and attractive. The arm is long and easily reaches over the work station on my six foot table. This is a heavier and sturdier and longer lamp than those sold at the office supply chains. I am thinking about purchasing another. My husband wants one.

I looked at a lot of task lamps before selecting this one. Many are too complicated and too big. Jacobsen's lamp is the perfect size and the spring system is well balanced so that it stays in place where you adjust it.

This Luxo adjustable task light fixture is a contemporary classic. Elegant and built true to the original design in every detail. The proportions are correct and the sizing of the components (the springs for instance) ensure that the lamp is stable, flexible and secure in any position. Its more expensive than the countless copies that are on the market, but its well worth the extra cost because it functions perfectly, is good to look at and will last forever. Its beautiful even when its not shining.

The package arrived less than a week after I placed my order and it weighed 18 pounds! Nearly all of that weight is in the disc-shaped base, smaller than a Frisbee. It took 30 seconds to assemble the base to the fixture, using the enclosed cotter pin.

The light adds beauty to my office even when it is off. It is a very cool piece of engineering, very seamlessly manufactured. I understand why it cost more , my old cheap lamp, from a home improvement store, is chintzy and slightly embarrassing in comparison.

The bulb is as easy to replace as a bulb in any lamp at home. Nothing to remove first...just unscrew the standard sized lamp bulb. It does not get hot.

I am very satisfied with it and have had it for a bit more than a week. I would highly recommend it.

The L1 is a classic, and you definitely can't go wrong. Mechanisms are all smooth and accurate, the lamp looks great of course. I bought it with a stand, and actually prefer that look, but ended up using it with the clamp instead just to save some desk space. The bulb that comes with the lamp was a real piece of junk, but that's to be expected and is cheaply/easily replaced.

Really a beautiful desk lamp - recommended highly.

I love my black Luxo task lamp, which is sitting on the desk on which I'm typing this review and reminds me of the (orange) Luxo knock-offs I grew up with in the 1970s -- only my Luxo is much nicer. Among other things, my Luxo has been painted a soft, gleaming black (not the hard, shiny surfaces of those childhood lamps), and has a heavy solid base (rather than clamps, which are always annoying). My only slight issue was that the finish on the base of my particular lamp was slighted mottled on one side. But since I wanted to use the lamp now, and didn't like the idea of wasting more energy resources by returning it, I just turned the mottled bit toward the wall. (To be honest, I had forgotten about this modest imperfection until I wrote this.) Bottom line: the Luxo is a classic of industrial design, and a perfect union of form and function. It easily merits 5 stars. (And it's also good for my eyesight!)

I was worried that because this lamp has been so frequently imitated, spending the extra $$$ for the original wouldn't be worth it. Thankfully that wasn't the case. The Luxo L-1 is big, bold and beautiful. Even though it seemed to take forever to get here (more and better communication from Y Lighting would have been helpful), it was ultimately worth the wait.

I love the light - it's a nice piece of design - but it's HUGE! Not a great bedside light...way too tall. And when I bought it the website didn't say that it wasn't in stock. I ended up having to wait weeks for it to arrive. Very annoying. Make sure you check stock availability before you buy.
